Pfizer covid pill just approved, 89% success rate in preventing hospitalizations, will be available at pharmacies for home use after testing positive. Just what I (an unvaccinated senior)was waiting for, prefer the pill to endless vaccines. Never got the flu shot either because Tamiflu is available.

It is a good move for Pfizer because many who doubt or refuse the periodic mitigative shots (so-called vaccines) will be willing to take pills as a mitigative post-infection therapy.
At first, distribution will be restricted, but by some time next year doctors will prescribe them like they're candy.
Accordingly, the oral treatment named PAXLOVID (containing nirmatrelvir and ritonavir tablets) is allowed for use in those aged 12 years above for the treatment of mild-to-moderate COVID-19.
The regulator says that the treatment is indicated for those who become positive for COVID-19 and who are at a high risk of developing the severe form of the disease.
The U.S. government has an agreement with Pfizer (PFE) to purchase 10M courses of the treatment pending regulatory clearance.
The company said it was ready to begin the U.S. deliveries immediately and raised the 2022 production target for the pill to 120M from 80M courses.

This is encouraging news.
Nevertheless, I would not wait for any pill, the vaccine injection is a great first step.
I get the flu vaccine almost every year. Last year I also took a vaccine for bacterial pneumonia, the PPSV23. I highly recommend it.
So the company that promised a vaccine with 95% effectiveness against COVID, is giving us one that is 89% effective against preventing hospitalizations. Yep sounds great.
If I thought that this would even remotely change the attitude of the "vaccinate at any cost" crowd I would be all for it, and am all for anything that would help. But does anyone believe that the government officials who are implementing any sort of "vaccine passport" under the guise of not overwhelming the hospitals will change their stance one bit?
The only thing I see is another "choice" being taken away from people who want to use alternative treatments and being "mandated" into taking these pills.
Please, please, please be careful and do your research. You will be taking HIV medication with that.

Paxlovid is a combination of Pfizer’s investigational antiviral PF-07321332 and a low dose of ritonavir, an antiretroviral medication traditionally used to treat HIV.
