I posted that for information. Articles are NOT telling people about the ritonavir tablet and what is it currently used for.
I just don't want to see people going in blind to this. Always know what drugs you are putting into your system.
This is interesting. I wonder what the people who mocked Ivermectin as a horse de-wormer will say about this one. After all, everyone knows each drug can only treat one disease.

I'm not sure where you're getting your info, but there is no ivermectin in this new pill.
That's great news. Unfortunately, it will be in very short supply for a while.
I do find it odd that the people who think Pfizer has created a dangerous vaccine are happy to trust their non-dangerous pill that hasn't even been released yet and that has been tested on an extremely small number of people (when compared to the vaccine, which has been used on a billion or more people).
I think it is because the vaccine has been pushed and marketed in away that has shown falsehoods and an authoritarian nature.
We were told one shot to be able to do our part and no mandates. Now an endless stream of an irreversible medical procedure or being blocked from public places and work. How many times has Biden lied about the effectiveness of the vaccine?
A pill is less intrusive, because you take it by choice if and only if you actually need it.

I might agree with you if the anti-vax silliness started just now. But it's been going on since the vax was first out. So this was before anyone knew for sure there would be boosters and well before any mandates.

The ritonavir is added to the Paxlovid formulation simply to slow the metabolism of the main ingredient, Nirmatrelvir. This allows the active part of the medication to last and work longer doing its antiviral thing in our bodies.

Where did I say there was? (although they are both protease inhibitors). I was commenting that Ivermectin detractors claimed that it couldn't work because one of it's uses was to de-worm horses. In fact they, and most of MSM, made a cottage industry out of mocking it's supporters. So the irony is that this drug uses a drug that is also used for HIV. I'm just pointing it out.

Well an antiviral being used as an antiviral makes more sense than an antiparasitic being used as an antiviral. Especially when the research just doesn't bear out the antiparasitic making any difference.

It makes just as much sense. Drugs don't know there intended purpose. They are all just chemicals. Many drugs that are discovered to do one thing work very well for other, unrelated things.
I'm glad that it fits with your sensibilities though.

I read that was the reason they included it.
But what is the effects of an HIV drug (ritonavir) on a person who does not have HIV ??
