Lightfoot just had a press conference where she said, absolute direct quote, “. Chicago is not out of control and violence is decreasing.”
Again, she 100%, absolutely said this. I’m not taking anything out of context, she wasn’t trying to imply anything other than what her words unequivocally say.
So my question is, “What would an out of control Chicago look like?” How would it differ from what is now happening? There have been 1500+ people shot in Chicago this year alone.
dems consider the slaughter the price to pay for having a reason to ban firearms. Simply running up the body count to pad the statistical evidence needed to achieve their theoretical goal of, no guns, no gun deaths. Problem with that fantasy is it does nothing to curtail violence.
Until that time comes mayors like LL play with stats and tell us crime is going down.

The problem with that plan, if it even is a plan, is that it won’t work.
There are 500 million guns in private hands, maybe more. The vast majority are unaccounted for and nobody knows where they are.
Thousands of people have the ability to manufacture their own guns and make their own ammo.
The border is also unsecured, so weapons flow freely across it, too.

I grew up in rural Illinois, this song and dance has been going on forever.
The rest of the state has plenty of guns and a murder rate comparable to Canada.
A limited number of neighborhoods in CHicago have a huge proportion of the shootings and according to CPD about 75% are gang/drug related.
Blaming guns is free and politically useful as they are able to pin the blame on their rivals. Every once in a while they'll hold a peace march or a buy back...pay Sharpton to come say what great progress the city is making blah blah blah.
Chicago's problem there is that much of the minority leadership in the city has completely sold out. They have their cut of the pie and so they keep selling that lie and don't break party ranks or they'd be tossed out (Or criminally investigated).
