Prove me wrong. It’s always “at least they aren’t Trump!” With the people who try to stick up for them.

It's been going on this way for a long time though. With Bush Jr, some people said at least he's not pervy Bill Clinton. With Obama, some people said at least he's not poop for brains Bush Jr. With Trump, some people said anything was better than Obama. And now we have a different bunch doing the same ol song and dance as they cheer on Biden, as if there's anything to cheer about. There's a pandemic and the government is trying to take over every aspect of our economy and lives. Fun times ahead I'm sure ...

No they're not exactly the most charismatic pair, but then neither was GHW Bush or Gerald Ford. Charisma isn't everything, although it can help. Sometimes you just need a responsible adult administration to clean up the steaming mess the last guy left behind.

They have a hard job and a very tenuous congress. They are much better than Trump. Then again isn't it normally we want X more than Y?

I agree with this. If I had a bit more gumption I would go back to March / April 2017 on this forum and link to all the posts from folks responding to questions about Trump by pointing out that X or Y didn't matter because Hilary Cliniton was not in office. I think it's particularly true at this point in an administration where the administration is still relatively new and has yet to actually accoplish much.

Having said that I think the degreee may be a little stronger here simply because we did not have a great candidate on either the Democratic or the Republican ticket. It wouldn't surprise me to learn than 80% of votes acst were voted for the lesser of two evils, as the voter viewed it. In the case of both major candidates. MAybe in other elections it is closer to 60%. Before you ask, I have no data on that, just a gut sense.

Biden wasn't my first (or second) choice for president, I still voted for him. Trump was so destructive to this country, voting for Biden was still the clear choice.

There is no-one in their right mind that would have voted for Biden knowing what a clown he is. If they did vote for him, they were brainwashed.
