Not everybody in CA was locked down or wore masks. Unfortunately, until we all take the necessary steps to stop its spread, Covid will continue to run rampant in our country. Covid isn't political, and doesn't care if you're red or blue.
Here’s some math for you: survival rate of 99.86% for those under 70. You must be proud of what your bosses in the Democrat Party have done to the country.

For ****'s sake, that's your argument? How many people are there and how many are in a rural Republican state. It's called proportions and percentages. Take a high school math class.
Plenty of cases here in North Dakota and there are mask mandates and there was a lockdown earlier.
What did Trump want to do? Lead this country by example by wearing a mask, social distancing, embracing the scientific and medical communities when they explained how we need to mitigate the spread of a pandemic? Why no, no he didn't. Instead he ridiculed, lambasted, name-called, held rallies, etc. Nah, don't give me that. He did nothing and acted like it was no big deal, even after he got it himself. It cost him big time.
the 2 bolded, for sure. there's no indication he didn't do what the scientists suggested from March through end of April though.
But yes, the Dems were able to use it successfully against him and win the POTUS.

I was being hyperbolic.
The point being there's a huge difference in population, pop. density, culture, business, and movement of people between the Dakotas and California (especially the big cities of L.A., San Diego, etc).
I'm not giving credit to any government for anything because it has no goal but to retain and in fact grow its power.
However, considering the cultural/economic makeup of California, especially its cities, the people here have done a somewhat decent job fighting COVID (though the last few weeks are definitely cause for concern) for being part of broader American culture which says do things for political spite.
The liberals here, which is mostly everyone, aren't breaking Covid protocols for political spite though. They're just tired of it.
Not an excuse for their behavior but the fact this surge didn't occur sooner with how we roll here (if I sit on the sidewalk across the street from me I can hear no less than 7 languages being spoken within 15 minutes while in North Dakota I'll only hear cows mooing) it's pretty much a miracle.
Trumpers have personally gone out of their way to break Covid protocols for political spite. We know this because they actually announce it before they spit on a 16-year-old kid at Target after being told to put on a mask.
Like I said awhile back - 2020: the year the GOP made the Democrats look relatively sane. One helluva accomplishment since Blue riots like it's a bodily function, still believes in 87 billion genders, and is convinced the sun will melt the earth if you use a straw in your drink.
It's worse than Trump's claim that his inauguration drew the biggest crowd ever.
