do you think there are more crazy Trump supporters that claim it's a hoax and have flaunted state rules, or more illegal aliens that don't care or pay attention to the laws unless they're involved in breaking them?

Masks are not "bandanas" there's a difference, and masks DO work, but a mask ALONE does nothing, you also need social distancing AND hand/surface santizers, all 3 together are needed just like putting oil gas AND antifreeze in your car are required to run it.

You only have to go back to 1918's flu pandemic and see that the infections and deaths reduced when masks were MANDATED under penalty of a $5 to $100 fine ($5 is about $85 in todays' money) or ten days in JAIL.
If proper and well fitting masks didn't work, then explain why doctors and nurses and surgeons all wear them and always have, especially surgeons!

"...But one notable difference is that it was the United States which led the world in mask wearing.
In October 1918, as San Francisco received the pandemic's second wave, hospitals began reporting a rise in the number of infected patients.
On October 24, 1918, the city's elected legislative body, the Board of Supervisors of San Francisco, realizing that drastic action needed to be taken with over 4,000 cases recorded, unanimously passed the Influenza Mask Ordinance.
The wearing of face masks in public became mandatory on US soil for the first time.

Adoption of masks

After San Francisco made masks mandatory in public, an awareness campaign began.
The city's mayor, along with members of the Board of Health, endorsed a Red Cross publicity blitz which told the public: "Wear a Mask and Save Your Life! A Mask is 99% Proof Against Influenza." Songs were written about mask wearing, including one ditty that featured the lyrics: "Obey the laws, and wear the gauze. Protect your jaws from septic paws."

Deep blue CA and NY lead the nation in COVID-19 deaths. Yet morons “elected” a Democrat president. Much more death and destruction coming. Thank God Trump was in office to develop the vaccine, something Sleepy Joe could only dream of doing.

Let’s not forget the extremely red Dakotas.

I’ve got more people living in my apartment complex who travel all around the world than in both Dakotas combined.

The cloth masks are working great in CA, aren’t they?

Gee, I didn't know Trump was a virologist.

It also didn't seem to occur to you that these 3 states have the most COVID deaths because they have the most people. Duh.

Per capita?

Or are we going to strictly use Trump math in here?

After the initial onslaught in the I-95 corridor it has been Red states tempting Covid’s wrath, generally speaking.

From the CDC's website, here is a map showing COVID death rates by state over the last 7 days.

California is in the middle of the pack. There are several red states including South Dakota, Indiana, Arkansas and Mississippi with far worse death rates.

Inconvenient fact for the right-wingers, who will surely ignore it.

Both states contain the nation's largest cities. Apparently this simple fact is unknown by you.

January 20, 2021 can't come soon enough.

Newsome (D) has been a disaster for CA in every way, just like Cuomo (D) has been a disaster for NY in every way. Sane people need to leave those states as long as they don’t vote Democrat in their new states. The people who elected Newsom and Cuomo should stay put and live with (or more likely die from) their voting habits.
