While watching old re-runs of Laugh-In, it was repeatedly stressed that poverty was due to the lack of government disbursement of public charity (entitlements) aka socialism. And it was all the fault of those greedy, rich [censored] that little Johnny can't read, hasn't enough to eat, ratty clothes, etc. We NEED more socialism to deter the unemployed from seeking a life of crime, when no jobs can be found.

Here we are 50 years later, and see the results of that "War on Poverty."
  • Inflation
  • Skyrocketing public debt
  • Debauched money tokens
  • Buying Power diminished
  • Politicians are richer
  • Government salaries are now higher than the private sector
  • Most manufacturing industries are off shore
  • Demands for higher minimum wage (which will backfire, causing more inflation as well as unemployment)
  • Exorbitant costs for dental and health care
  • Housing costs are insane
  • Prison population is rising
But now we can blame "White privilege," police brutality, acting white, lack of segregation, and other bizarre claims for the situation.

The more things change, the more things remain the same.

With apologies to Ten Years After:

Tax the rich, feed the poor
'Till there are no poor no more

just doesn't work. There will always be poor people. In every country on every continent there will always be 'haves' and 'have nots'. You can help them but they will not miraculously be 'unpoor' unless they get an education and work hard to elevate themselves.

yes, I know the lyrics say 'till there are no rich no more'. That gives you insight to what the leftists really crave.

BTW - socialism relies on money madness to operate. If there was no money, and government went around taking your food, your clothing and your housing to give to another, you might object to "theft by government" regardless of the condition of the recipient.

Evidence of Socialism
-or-
Evidence against private property ownership

From the Communist manifesto: "In this sense, the theory of the Communists may be summed up in the single sentence: Abolition of private property."

PRIVATE PROPERTY - "As protected from being taken for public uses, is such property as belongs absolutely to an individual, and of which he has the exclusive right of disposition. Property of a specific, fixed and tangible nature, capable of being in possession and transmitted to another, such as houses, lands, and chattels."
- - - Black's Law dictionary, sixth ed., p.1217

COMMUNISM - the ownership of property, or means of production, distribution and supply, by the whole of a classless society, with wealth shared on the principle of 'to each according to his need', each yielding fully 'according to his ability'.
- - - Webster's Dictionary.

SOCIALISM - A political and economic theory advocating collective ownership of the means of production and control of distribution. It is based upon the belief that all, while contributing to the good of the community, are equally entitled to the care and protection which the community can provide.
- - - Webster's dictionary
.......................

Socialism and communism = COLLECTIVE ownership.

COLLECTIVISM - The principles or system of ownership and control of the means of production and distribution by the people collectively, usually under the supervision of a government.

IF THE GOVERNMENT TAKES YOUR PROPERTY WITHOUT PAYING JUST COMPENSATION (5TH AMENDMENT), IT CANNOT BE PRIVATE PROPERTY.

STEALTH SOCIALISM is a system in which the government leaves nominal ownership of the means of production in the hands of private individuals but exercises control by means of regulatory legislation and reaps tremendous profit by means of heavy taxation. In effect, stealth socialism is simply a more subtle form of government ownership than is overt socialism (& communism) with its nationalization of business and industry.

COLLECTIVISM : We steal everything, and hold you obligated to pay us for our magnanimous mismanagement, while demanding your obedience to our dictates.
But at least we have equal oppression for all, justice for none!

Voluntary charity is a blessing
Compulsory charity is a curse

The problem with money mad people is that they blame everything on money or those who have it. To them, poverty is not having enough money. If that were true, let's credit everyone with 22 billion billion credits, so no one "needs" money ever again. Everyone is equally wealthy. But if no one needs more money, who is going to go work, farm, mine, manufacture, ship and sell goods and services for money they don't need? Even the starving children are phenomenally wealthy.

In reality, prosperity is based on prodigious production of surplus usable goods and services, equitably traded and enjoyed. Doing more with less so more can enjoy is superior to doing less with more so few can enjoy. It has nothing to do with money, its volume or assumed value. And confiscating surplus (i.e. socialism) will discourage people from making more surplus. Why bother to work more, when government will take it from you?

People still dream of "hitting the lotto" or marrying a rich spouse. No one dreams of producing more surplus than ever before. Unfortunately people eventually will have to discover that being productive is necessary for civilization to survive, and seeking a life of leisure spending riches is contrary to survival.

AMERICA IS THE GREATEST COUNTRY IN THE WORLD
=>but not for the reasons you thought<=

Despite the beliefs of the audience of LAUGH IN, America is the greatest country on Earth because it has the best form of government. It’s not perfect, but it far exceeds any other. I am not speaking of the constitutional government and its indirect democratic format. I am not speaking of the voluntary socialism system imposed by FICA. I am not speaking of elections, partisan politics nor ideologies based on envy, lies and greed.

America’s best form of government is the republican form. Ironically, not 1 in 100,000 Americans can accurately define it, its source or origin. Most think it refers to a constitutional republic - which it is not. It existed before the constitution. It’s only guaranteed to the states by that document.

After spending years collecting, sifting, and researching, I am confident that I can decipher the definition of the republican form, its source and origin.
This was a difficult task because the republican form had been eradicated from the curriculum of the nation - and the world. What official references existed, were written in baffling terms that really did not define anything. And there is a sound reason to eradicate the republican form. If allowed to achieve its potential, America would instigate a world wide revolution against all existing monarchies, oligarchies, and democracies. Every monarch, warlord, ego tripping leader, and covert power bloc would be at risk if America’s republican form was not destroyed, forgotten, and reviled.

So exactly what is the republican form of government?

In a republican form, all men (including women) are born equal before the law - none higher - and have Creator endowed rights that governments were instituted to secure. And only with consent of the governed can government do anything more than secure rights.

The source of those endowed rights is our Creator - the Great Spirit, Divine Providence.
The origin of the republican form is the Declaration of Independence. And those self evident truths are repeated in State constitutions, reaffirming that the foundation of law in America is the Declaration.
Since 1776, no other nation formed a republican form, where the individual was sovereign and the government was his servant.

WHAT ATTRIBUTES?

As a sovereign individual, ownership is absolute, whether it is your self, your labor, or that which you traded your labor for. You can exercise natural liberty over your private property needing no one’s permission (license). You can exercise personal liberty and travel upon the public roads and waterways. No government can tax, regulate nor trespass your endowed rights.

Only by your consent to be governed, can the government presume you no longer have endowed rights, but only government granted (and withdrawn) privileges and immunities.

Absent consent, all that government can do is adjudicate disputes, prosecute criminals and defend against all enemies, foreign or domestic. Government cannot make any demands upon the sovereign people as long as they don’t trespass the rights of another.

Under no other form of government is there more freedom and independence. You’re the king, the sovereign, and lord over your dominion. No other country can one make that claim. In most cases, you are subject citizen of the sovereign government, and it has a prior and superior claim to you and yours.

=================
PERSONAL LIBERTY, or the Right to enjoyment of life and liberty, is one of the fundamental or natural Rights, which has been protected by its inclusion as a guarantee in the various constitutions, which is not derived from, or dependent on, the U.S. Constitution, which may not be submitted to a vote and may not depend on the outcome of an election. It is one of the most sacred and valuable Rights, as sacred as the Right to private property ... and is regarded as inalienable.
- - - 16 Corpus Juris Secundum , Constitutional Law, Sect.202, p.987.
If "natural rights" and "personal liberty" cannot be submitted to a (democratic) vote, and no election outcome can change them, what happened to them?

CONSENT OF THE CITIZENRY
“ Our theory of government and governmental powers is wholly at variance with that urged by appellant herein. The rights of the individual are not derived from governmental agencies, either municipal, state or federal, or even from the Constitution. They exist inherently in every man, by endowment of the Creator, and are merely reaffirmed in the Constitution, and restricted only to the extent that they have been VOLUNTARILY SURRENDERED BY THE CITIZENSHIP to the agencies of government. The people's rights are not derived from the government, but the government's authority comes from the people. The Constitution but states again these rights already existing, and when legislative encroachment by the nation, state, or municipality invade these original and permanent rights, it is the duty of the courts to so declare, and to afford the necessary relief. The fewer restrictions that surround the individual liberties of the citizen, except those for the preservation of the public health, safety, and morals, the more contented the people and the more successful the democracy.”
- - - City of Dallas v Mitchell, 245 S.W. 944
https://casetext.com/case/city-of-dallas-v-mitchell-1
. . .
The rights of the individual / national / non-citizen / inhabitant / non-resident are not derived from government, but are Creator endowed.
But once consent to be governed is granted, via citizenship, that endowment has been surrendered / waived by the citizenry. Why? Because mandatory civic duties abrogate endowed natural rights, natural and personal liberty, absolute ownership of private property, etc, etc.
"What I do say is that no man is good enough to govern another man without that other's CONSENT. I say this is the leading principle, the sheet-anchor of American republicanism. Our Declaration of Independence says: "We hold these truths to be self-evident: That all men are created equal; that they are endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable rights; that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. That to secure these rights, governments are instituted among men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed."
- - - Abraham Lincoln, Speech at Peoria, Illinois (1854)
http://en.wikiquote.org/wiki/Abraham_lincoln
...
People who have not consented, are not governed (ruled), but served by government.
People who have consented, have no grounds to object to being governed by another man.
. . . . . .

THE IDEAL FORM
“The republican is the only form of government which is not eternally at open or secret war with the Rights of mankind.”
- - - Thomas Jefferson
https://en.wikiquote.org/wiki/Thomas_Jefferson

“I firmly believe that the benevolent Creator designed the republican Form of Government for Man.”
- - - Samuel Adams;
Statement of (14 April 1785), quoted in The Writings of Samuel Adams (1904) edited by Harry A. Cushing
http://en.wikiquote.org/wiki/Samuel_Adams

Republicanism is not the phantom of a deluded imagination. On the contrary, laws, under no form of government, are better supported, liberty and property better secured, or happiness more effectually dispensed to mankind.”
- - - George Washington (1732-1799) Father of the Country, 1st President of the United States
http://founders.archives.gov/documen.../05-17-02-0282

IF American governments are instituted to secure Creator endowed rights, but consent to be a citizen surrenders those rights, HOW can government impose citizenship, at birth, upon an infant that cannot consent? Isn't such an imposition a violation of the very rights that governments were instituted to secure?
Ask your public servant to EXPLAIN IT TO YOU.
