Quote:
The study, from professors at the Universities of California — Berkeley and San Francisco — as well as the Tulane School of Medicine, found that years of incidents of violence and bias against Asian Americans trending downward was reversed earlier this year after top U.S. officials used the term to describe the COVID-19 outbreak.
Quote:
It also found that bias by Americans toward Asian Americans "declined steadily from 2007 through early 2020 but reversed trend and began to increase on March 8, following the increase in stigmatizing language in conservative media outlets," according to the study's abstract.
Quote:
Top administration officials began using the term when the number of virus cases increased in the U.S. earlier this year. President Trump has used the term repeatedly in public events and on social media in order to blame its origins. Early cases of the virus were first reported in the Chinese city of Wuhan.
Quote:
The U.S. now has confirmed more than seven million cases of the virus and more than 200,000 deaths as a result of the pandemic.
Calling this the China virus isn't doing anyone favors at all. All it is doing is making life worse for the asian-americans who live and contribute to this nation. The WHO specifically called it COVID-19 because the whole world is in this together, not just China. Trump and the government need to man up and just use science to solve this problem as being xenophobic isn't going get us much good.

P.S. Also Trump bootlicked Xi at the start of this pandemic, its not like he deserves to blame China for all our problems.

Feb. 7, Remarks before Marine One departure:
Quote:
"Late last night, I had a very good talk with President Xi, and we talked about — mostly about the coronavirus. They're working really hard, and I think they are doing a very professional job. They're in touch with World — the World — World Organization. CDC also. We're working together. But World Health is working with them. CDC is working with them. I had a great conversation last night with President Xi. It's a tough situation. I think they're doing a very good job.”

Talk about faulty attribution. Maybe some people were mad about the China virus and not because Trump called it the China virus. everyone knows it originated and was intentionally allowed to spread by china.

Anti-Asian Bias spikes due to use of "China Virus"

So YOU have finally figured out the reason why Chinese people occasionally get harassed?

Can you explain to us why you have concluded that "it's Trump's fault" because he calls it the "China Virus" In other words, because he keeps telling the truth about it?

And it's not because of the more usual reasons like, China is constantly taking advantage of American generosity, as well as the naive rolling over for China that the U.S. has done from 2008-2016?

According to the study the bias towards Asians has trended in a decline between 2007 and 2020. So it is likely Trump calling it the China virus increasing the racism.

It's silly to demonize an entire culture over a segment of the population and it's leadership. Most people are inherently passive and subject to the state propaganda in which they were raised. It takes a big event to make them revolt, or access to new sources of information to broaden their perspective. Fact is asians that come to america work hard and rarely ask for government cheese compared to many of our home grown. The left doesn't like to bring up asians because they are an example of minorities that make something up themselves rather than playing the victim card. I'm not a huge fan of their government, and hope they eventually lighten up the propaganda and allow more freedom of expression and access to knowledge, but it's the nature of the beast for people in charge to control the people by controlling the flow of information. The left is even starting to do it with large social media companies.

You took this giant leap to a faulty conclusion in your OP.

Are you trying to find out if Herr Goebbels' saying "If you tell a big enough lie, often enough, people will believe it and it will become The Truth" is true? Or maybe it is only true in YOUR mind?

You seem to not realize that it is common to name a disease after where it came from/location of the first known case or after the population of an area of the first known case.

The following are diseases that were named after population or place...

West Nile Virus
Guinea Worm
Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever
Lyme Disease
Ross River Fever
Omsk Hemorrhagic Fever
Ebola Hemorrhagic Fever
Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) (camel flu)
Marburg Virus Disease
Norovirus
Zika Fever
Japanese Encephalitis
German Measles
Spanish Flu
Lassa Fever
Legionnaire’s Disease
Valley Fever

I'm sure you're outraged enough to not use the names of these diseases, right? Why are you not starting threads about these diseases, too?

No kidding.

Violence in general has increased due to the Democrats support and enthusiasm for it. So, of course violence against (insert group here) has increased as a by product.

I’ve seen videos of people harassing Asians. The perpetrators were black, so they can’t mention that part.
