Unease with Pope Benedict XVI's approach to Islam has led a U.S. Muslim group to decline joining in an interfaith event with him later this week.

Several other U.S. Muslim leaders expressed similar concerns about the pope, but pledged to participate in the Washington gathering, saying the two faiths should do everything possible to improve relations.

I find it extremely troubling that people care so much who the Pope is or isn't meeting with.

Why? I think it is interesting. The Pope represents a huge number of Christians. Why would you find it troubling that people are interested in who he meets (and I don't mean to be contentious - just curious).

It is interesting.

I would ask some to do this: Find out how many people are in the United States. Then, find out how many Americans identify themselves as Roman Catholics - not simply Christians - CATHOLICS.

It is my opinion that after you do this - you will come to know why the Popes visit is taken seriously

The Pope is on the forefront of diplomatic activities to quell the Islamic revolution. As part of our strategy to stop Islamic fundamentalism, he is a stalwart ally and has been been making inroads in the Islamic community.

I wish Fox would grow out of the need to be sensationalist with their headlines. That's actually a pretty balanced article, with a misleading headline.

They won't lose their base, and I'm sure they're embarrassed at having to act like a tabloid.

He is also on the forefront to quell the Christianist revolution. As part of our strategy to stop Christian fundamentalism, he is a stalwart ally and has been making inroads in the mainstream Christian (Protestant and Orthodox) community.

Rofl. It's the Muslims, guys.
They're held responsible for nearly all of the problems in the middle east/asia.

Somehow it seems more significant that apparently all the groups except for one did go to meet the Pope, but maybe that's just me.
