If I weren't concerned with that, why on Earth would I support tripling the manpower at the border?

Yes, we should try to deter as many illegal immigrants as possible but the wall is a gigantic waste of money in this fight.

You should care. We depend on Mexico for exports. Our trade with Mexico is about $1 billion dollars per day. Our national and local economies in the border areas depend on trade with Mexico. Approximately 20% of all US jobs are linked to a good working relationship with Mexico.

Actually, anything we could spend money on has a lot to do with this issue from education to infrastructure to healthcare, etc. You people say we don't have enough money for, well, anything really, but then can't wait to spend billions on a wall that will not work.

This has to be one of the most ignorant comments I've read on this forum..and that's saying a lot!

We do not need a wall. Anyone who wants to can take a plane or a boat. This is a 25-billion dollar vanity program.

It absolutely is but Texas is a red state and I can think of no better state to pay for Trump's vanity than Texans who voted for him. Wait until they lose all that trade money. Wait until Mexico takes their 2.4 billion dollar corn market elsewhere. Watching all this play out is at least interesting.

Speculation based on facts is not ignorance.

Most illegals aren't coming here by plane or boat nor will they in the future when we fix the visa over stayer problem. Most illegals are coming here by foot across the Mexican border. We have the Coast Guard to guard our waterways. Vanity? WTH does vanity have to do with wanting to secure our border?

The Wall will be a combination of wall, fencing, electronic surveillance, natural barriers and increased border patrol agents.

Just not hiring illegal aliens will not keep them out of the country. They come and have 5 or 6 anchor babies all entitled to public assistance and delivered on the taxpayer's dime. One anchor puts them in subsidized government housing.

Walls work. Cost of maintaining illegal aliens, more than $11 billion per year. I have seen interviews and those on the border want the border secured.

Maybe if the Democrats weren't pandering for votes, they could get their heads on straight:

This man in AZ on the border was eventually murdered by an illegal alien:

Not so.

"But even if we were to build a wall, and elect a president interested in using it to protect America’s sovereignty, we’d be missing most of the problem — because the majority of new illegal aliens are actually visa overstayers."

I find the idea of only building a WALL along the Mexican border completely intolerable. We also need a similar WALL along the Canadian border so the Northern tier of the US can get part of the profits from this nice sounding but completely absurd boondoggle.

snip

just a quick question

if the border runs through private lands...are those private lands USA territory or Mexican...I don't see how they can be both legally.

would appreciate answers from a legal standpoint
