About Oil Shale
Wow, the shale oil kool-aid. Yeah, we're converting to this substandard form of "oil" and there's no problem

That crap substitute for the sweet Saudi crude is expensive to refine, takes too much fresh water, and isn't coming online quickly enough.

Don't believe me? How about peak oil subscriber, staunch conservative and former GWB energy adviser Matthew Simmons who happens to know a little something about oil running his own investment firm specializing in it?

YouTube - Matt Simmons (Bloomberg): Peak Oil Now, Oil Perhaps to $300

But, hey, gotta dream the dream. A government sponsored website won't ever steer you wrong, eh?

As someone who works at an oil exploration office I can tell you oil is still being produced but getting to new reserves is becoming more difficult and more costly.

It's not that oil is going to run out...but it is that unless we get off of having to use the levels of it that we do, you better be comfortable at $7-8 gal. within 5-8 years time (or less I could be surprised)
