I am not a Trump supporter, but...

For a long time people have been saying the GOP needs to dump the evangelical voters and support candidates who are secular or at least who keep faith separate from politics.

Now there is a Republican who is either leading or is second place in the polls who is not religious, who is pro-gay, who is even more tepidly opposed to abortion than McCain, and and who owes nothing to the religious right.

Yes, quite the opposite of most of the RWNJ threads so common this forum.

This country's only hope is to get rid of all liberals. They have absolutely ruined this country.

By and large, so-called "gay rights" have been forced on us by the courts. Gays have always had the same rights as anyone else. They just didn't like the choices, because it didn't fit with their chosen lifestyle (which is perverted). So-called "gay 'marriage'" is a perfect example. They have always had the right to marry, just as anyone else. But, they didn't want to marry someone of the opposite sex (which is natural), but wanted to marry each other (someone of the same sex) instead. Most people disagreed with this, but the courts forced it on state after state (no matter the vote of the people) until finally the Supreme Court declared it to be a "right."

Much of the population is moving "right" on the issue of abortion, as well. This is because people realize that a baby in the womb is just as human, and entitled to life as one who is already born. As technology advances, allowing us to actually see the living "fetus" in the womb (a term that is a stumbling block to pro-aborts, because they think the term signifies something less than human, and not yet even alive), we see a tiny human, with arms, legs, fingers and toes, even sucking it's thumb.

And, conservatism isn't just about being religious. It is about preserving the Democratic Republic that the framers gave us, and the Constitution, which the "Progressives" are trying to destroy. It is the Constitution which sets forth our rights and freedoms, establishes us as a "citizen government" (government by consent). It establishes that the purpose of government is to secure those rights, and to protect the people against enemies, both foreign and domestic.

"Progressives" do not believe in 'natural rights' as spoken of in the Declaration of Independence, believing instead that it is (and should be) government that bestows rights ("gay 'marriage'"). In fact, Woodrow Wilson state that "If you wan to understand the real Declaration, don't read the first part." Well, if you don't read the first part, all you are left with is a historical narrative of grievances against the King. If we ignore the first part, there is not right to life, for example. You have no right to Liberty, which is the freedom to move about and do what you believe is best for you; to set your own path in life. You would be nothing more than a slave to the State.

I think all the evidence points to people becoming more conservative, not less. More states are controlled by Republican governors and legislatures than Democrats.

I think this poll is as phony as a three dollar bill.

Well you're wrong.

Nobody cares what you think, especially when it's factually incorrect.

Well, I'm sorry to tell you that nobody cares what you think either.

I believe this poll as much as I believe the moon is made of green cheese. What would account for the sudden shift in the above? As recently as 2013, polls (including Gallup) were showing that Americans were continuing to trend toward "pro-life." What changed?

I think this is pure propaganda. Something doesn't jibe with election results. And why the outrage over what we've been hearing about Planned Parenthood lately, and the overwhelming calls for Congress to defund PP? It makes no sense. Something is rotten in Denmark.

To believe this poll, you'd have to believe that President Obama was the most popular President in U.S. history, and that Planned Parenthood was a ministry of the Catholic Church, personally ordained by the Pope.

"[i]t’s the change in the questions those polls ask that should really raise eyebrows."

I don't care that you blieve the moon is made of green cheese.

What's amusing is that you believe the gallup polls when they were in favor of your position and now that the tide has swung the other way you "don't believe it".

Be ignorant, factually incorrect, and biased. I could care less.
