The American left is advocating a pro-death culture on a number of fronts. This is just the latest.
So I would bet you have never experienced pain so severe that things suddenly started fading to black and you passed out in the middle of the floor.

Plus, death with dignity isn't just someone deciding they don't want to live anymore, there are a number of boxes that need to be checked before one can do it which includes terminally ill and going to die within 6 months anyway.

So painfully true. I picture such conservatives as being in a pristine state of good health, and so are incapable of having empathy for people who have chronic, painful, terminal health conditions.

im very conservative and support anyones right to check out when they please

in fact , there should be places today ....that people can go ,,,,,and check out on their own,,

we pick and choose a time of death for our dogs,,,because we don't want them to suffer,,,but cant do it for ourselves??

if I know im a gonner within a year,,,,,im going out on MY own terms,,,,not going to wither away on morphine for 6 months,,,,thats not ME

I didn't choose when I was brought into this life.....but I can choose when I go,,,and I should be able to choose with dignity,,
and who is it for anyone else to tell me different ??

If someone is suffering and wants to die, then let him. So much for Republicans being for small and limited government.

Again - it isn't a partisan issue. Plenty of conservatives support physician-assisted suicide laws. Just read this thread...

I pray you don't have to listen to your loved one beg to die.

My mother died of congestive heart failure. Her organs stopped working one by one until she died drowning in her own fluid. It took her 6 months.

Your overwhelming incapacity to see anything beyond a worn-out political meme makes me sad for this country.
This. I'm so sorry. People who have not witnessed this sort of suffering simply don't know.

Exactly, this is usually something people from both sides of the political spectrum tend to agree on.....it is just odd when someone doesn't agree with this....because there is no good reason to be against this.

most of the conservatives I know agree with assisted suicide,,,or die with dignity,,they make their on decision to go

half the nursing homes are subsidized and assisted endings would reduce this,,,therefore we would be reducing government

I believe in people having the right to die at a time and manner of their choosing. I've taken care of too many cancer patients whose last days are spent in a morphine haze so profound they can't respond to their loved ones, jaundice from liver damage making their skin yellow. I've taken care of too many people with ALS who eat through a tube, breathe through a tube and soil themselves because they can't tell their caregivers when they need to void. Hospice and home care nursing is hard and can be soul crushing. If I ever get sick to the point that one of the above is my future state I would want to end my life before I got there. My family already knows I want no heroic measures and if I ever get a progressive motor neuron disease that I will not get a feeding tube or a trach.

This isn't a liberal issue, despite your failed attempt at making it one (typical of the right wing ideologue) but a human rights issue.
