It's what passes for progress in the minds of intelligent, compassionate, caring people. Of course you'd disagree.

Dehumanizing is being forced to watch a loved one die shrivelled into the fetal position experiencing unimaginable agony while knowing in advance the wishes of that person was a death with dignity...you know like that of the horse you shot because the break was too serious to fix or the favoured and loved pet your vet convinced you to euthanize because the prolonging of life would be considered cruel by anyone's standards.

Dehumanizing would be for the rest of us in favour of such a move; show up after paying for a ticket to watch you go through a hell you neither deserved nor would have desired for yourself and forcing you to look at our smirking faces with a: "how's that non-assisted, three-month-long death going for you, bro?"

You people and your zealotry towards government conspiracies in all things...at least make an effort to maintain some semblance of cognitive rationale.
Did you expect anything less from a conservative? They simply do not have the mental capacity to think outside of their narrow little lives. They don't care that someone may be suffering to the point they no longer wish to live. It's clear by the way they post here that they enjoy the suffering of others. They feed off of it. As long as it isn't them they're good. It gives them a reason to get up in the morning.

My position is suicide is an individual's decision. It is their body and their mind. If they want to destroy them for whatever their reason that is their choice.

Freedom is a double edged sword. Sometimes people do things you do not approve. So long as they are not attacking you why should you be involved?

The socialist left is promoting an increasingly successful agenda to legalize assisted suicide, in truth because these people have no value to them, and they value their depopulation agenda more than the lives of these people. It is dehumanizing to say the least. It is also ghoulish in the extreme. But this is apparently what passes for "progress" in the minds of the so-called "progressives".

The American left is advocating a pro-death culture on a number of fronts. This is just the latest

I pray you don't have to sit and watch a terminally ill loved one waste away.
I pray you don't have to dry their tears because the pain is so bad that the drugs don't touch it.
I pray you never have to change your loved one's diaper while they shed tears of shame.
I pray you don't have to listen to your loved one beg to die.

My mother died of congestive heart failure. Her organs stopped working one by one until she died drowning in her own fluid. It took her 6 months.

Your overwhelming incapacity to see anything beyond a worn-out political meme makes me sad for this country.

Unfortunately for your thesis, support for physician-assisted suicide crosses all party lines, as does opposition to it.

Be for it or against it as you please, but trying to make it into a partisan issue is not supported by the facts.

For instance, my religiously conservative mother died in a Catholic hospital, where the doctor suggested we put her into a "light" coma and withhold food. This was in accordance with her own advance directive, what she had said all her life, and continued to say during the early years of her Alzheimer's.

In a previous life, I was a nurse, and watched many people die. What is dehumanizing is using machines, drugs, and tubing to keep someone alive no matter what. It turns people into experimental subjects and, too often, ignores their own wishes.

As a conservative I am disagreeing with you. I am 100% in favor of physician assisted suicide for the terminally ill.

The OP has made a all too common and fundamental mistake. "If I think it is a bad thing, it must be those darn liberals!" Sorry, but people on both sides of the aisle are for this sort of thing. You will find its more common among people who have watched family members dies horrifically slowly. This is not a political issue.

IE people who understand the topic in painful ways. Watched loved ones die in horrific agony, being kept alive when all they want is death. And KNOWING that death is inevitable.

I watched my father die from lung cancer. Luckily, when he said "I'm tired, I'm ready to go". the doctors let him.

Right to die is Freedom.

Taking away someone's right to manage their own life by criminalizing suicide is a crypto-Leftist ploy to control individuals and deprive them of self-determination. A typical example of Judeo-Christian neo-con social engineering.

Why exactly is anyone against someone's right to die with dignity?
