The most likely explanation remains that the school and police reacted to the kids ethnicity. Given the weird views of the Mayor it remains a reasonable theory. I would like to see it disproved but so far nothing.

Nope. I continue to assert it as the most likely theory. Not the only. Can't say it is clearly true because there is way too little information. What family information is available indicates the daughter may well have been a victim of a similar action earlier. But again, not enough information to know.
And I continue to assert the kid did nothing of great import. And that it is not even clear he is a smart kid. But none of that changes the likely impact of ethnicity on the school and police decisions.
