I'm assuming no jail time since she allows other judges to perform the ceremonies. Although I think it's petty and unprofessional.
Quote:
Parker told the audience that while she refuses to conduct the ceremonies, she explains her reasoning to the couples and passes them along to another judge.
Judge needs to go; however, if other arrangements have been made and everyone is satisfied . . it would have been the same for Kim Davis had she allowed her clerk's to do a job she didn't want to do.
Second, it cuts most of the original story from 2012 that notes that Judge Parker IS NOT REQUIRED to perform marriage ceremonies unlike Ms Davis who IS REQUIRED to issue marriage licenses.
Judge Parker is now performing marriage ceremonies for any that asks her.
That said, she didn't forbid other judges, let alone other officiants, from performing marriages for straight folks, nor has she shut down performing all marriages in her county. Dunno how Texas operates, but if it's like other states, she has nothing to do with granting the licenses, she's a designated officiant.
Anyone turned away can and should bring a suit against her, and start the ball rolling, which was what happened to Davis. I'll be interested to see what happens.
Edited to add - 2012! I guess I can get to see what happens, and all without a time machine!
Who'd want this beech, who thinks it's her place to preach to couples, to marry them anyway?
Also, that's the difference between heteros and gay activists. The former simply go elsewhere, which is what the latter should do instead of filing suits every time they smell a Christian.
Who cares ;go to another judge; problem solved.Sound like he wants 15 minutes of fame. So many wanting conflict; but nice of the judge to let people know I advance.
