I guess we aren't the only ones with this problem. Why oh why are we allowing this in the modern, civilized nations? We are losing everything.

Default American Drug War Possible Reason for influx of Immigrant Children

Vicious Cycle in Drug War Leads to Immigrant Children

Nearly 100,000 criminals were shipped from the U.S. to Guatemala, El Salvador and Honduras from 2010 to 2012—a total that eclipsed the number deported during the previous six years combined, according to the Miami Herald. Many of those deportees joined criminal gangs that had been transplanted from the United States, leading to spikes in murders and violence that made life unbearable for ordinary citizens.

From your article:

"Rather, the immigration crisis started in Washington, when the Obama administration decided to deport thousands of convicts, many of them gang members, back home, which helped turn Honduras, El Salvador and Guatemala into crime centers that prompted families to send their children on a perilous trek to the United States."

So.... we're just supposed to keep the criminals here in the US? Build more prisons? Complete legalization of all drugs is very unlikely to happen.

I'm just starting the discussion. The Drug War IMO, and many other experts, is a huge failure and is creating more criminals than people it is reforming.

We need to smarten up about our drug policy. When you have the DEA working with drug cartels in Central America, you've failed.

Even Police are working with the gangs and big drug pushers.

Yeah, that's it. Now the CIA installed leadership is killing all the kids right?

They would not waste huge sums of money and risk murder and rape to come here, if they didn't think they could stay.

However, they have the idea they can stay if they make it here. Why is that?

And a good explanation why neighboring Nicaragua, which is actually poorer than it's neighbors, isn't experiencing a mass exodus of young people. The drug gangs don't operate there in any numbers and it's a relatively safe country compared to Guatemala, El Salvador and Honduras.

Yeah, it's the drug gangs. They just popped up after Obama said he would let these moochers in. Yeah that's it...
