What's ironic is that they are confused with your typical low performing African-American when many if not most are either biracial, immigrants or the children of immigrants. Harvard has been allowing Black folks into their school since before the Civil War, these kids aren't unique or special in that regard. They are just playing the victim card which is en vogue. Those who are insecure will often ascribe negative attributes to others around them. This is just another example. I doubt confident, successful minority students would harbor such sentiments and would just go about their business.
However, statistically, the chance of a minority student (due to affirmative action) being less qualified is much higher. Therefore the "presumption" is probably correct in many instances. I can say that this was quite true in my medical school class. I guess you could ban affirmative action if you do not want these admission disparities. Would minorities then be happy?
