Let the free market decide if they want to attempt a stop rising sea levels or not. I can guarantee that an ice age would have far more catastrophic effects to the economy than a warmer earth. A warmer earth means a longer growing season, doesn't sound like something you want to stop unless you live near sea level.

Oh yeah, like the longer growing season California is enjoying right now, right? Regarding a warmer world's effects on agriculture, we just don't know if the positives will outweigh the negatives...It is not as simple as you think.. Why should people care what corporations want? If they want to step up and be smart, good for them. If not, we should force the issue. Yeah, that might be against free market principles, but I'm not particularly attached to such ideological purity.

LOL....just as easy as that. Maybe we can decide whether we want to stop Hurricane's and earthquake's also? I'm Sure a slush fund of a few trillion should accomplish that.

Stop rising sea levels... as if humans actually could.

Yep, an ice age would do far more damage. Unfortunately, it looks as if this is where we might be headed.

You can't stop it, though you can alter it to a currently undetermined degree with unpredictable effects.

Volcanoes affect climate. "Volcanic winter" is an historical and observable fact. Man pumps crud into the air on a more regular and sustained basis - and man's crud makes the climate warmer. What we need is more volcanoes to offset global warming.

Too bad...

The first step in understanding what a free market is, is to differentiate between consensual exchange and domination. Corporations are market dominators; the bastard evil child of free markets. They corner markets in a never ending hunger to control entire sectors of the economy.

Free Market = GOOD
Corporate Domination = BAD

Too bad... our government is colluding with these dominators to control every aspect of our lives.

Why can't climate change / global warming be left up to the free market?
It's the tragedy of the commons.
