No, not even close. You can't tackle people in most workplaces and you can't call them any derogatory names at all.
The NFL is not your average workplace.
That's like saying you don't stick needles in people in most workplaces, so a hospital isn't an average workplace.
It's still a job, and certain rules apply, including being courteous and not mouthing off and insulting people.
If anywhere the N word is used on a baskeball court..........by black guys.........then anywhere. But hey nobody cares why is that? Oh it's ok if a black guy uses it right.
Punish the individual, not the whole team for the actions of one or two morons. Changing the game is also dumb and completely unethical in the way of sports.
Any individual on the team who says something racist or homophobic should be suspended, fined, or whatever else you can think of that deals with the individual directly. It's not the teams fault or the game, so why Punish those? Punish the individual only.
I disagree west coaster. Let em play. They will figure it out on the playing field. These guys don't need a ref getting in there or what have you telling em differnt. Like I said in a different thread most of these guys know each other and are just barking at each other. What will be next you can't even talk at your opponent? The sports arena is not the workplace no matter what many want to imply. They are athletes going against each other. I haven't seen many harsh words said after a game about what was said on the field. Now the ref's who have plenty of other things to look out for are supposed to stop free speech on top of it? Do they need to become judges first?
