Cite, please. Prior to Obamacare, I can't think of any federal government benefits childless burger flippers working full time get. While they are theoretically eligible for Section 8, it's so hard to get on the waiting list, plus the waiting list is so long, it's unlikely a burger flipper actually has Section 8.
Depending on how much that they are making some of them are still eligible for medicaid and food stamps
That is scary that the bottom 40% are actually getting back so much money on their income tax payments. I don't have an issue with the top 5 % paying 95% of the taxes if they are also making 95% of the income, but I do think it's wrong that there are people who actually get a bigger refund than the taxes that they pay. Especially considering that appears to be the case for such a significant part of the country.
You're right, it's absolutely terrifying. More terrifying still is that the bottom 40% own almost no wealth in this country. Regardless of what their income is, they're not making enough to get ahead in any meaningful way. That's why they should pay little in taxes.
On the flip slide, even though the rich are paying more than their income share in taxes, their wealth continues to increase.

Funny, ... Obama is having a hard time legislating the rich into poverty. The same as he is not able to legislate prosperity for the poor.
One thing that consistently amazes me is how much of the top 5% of this country chooses to hang out on City-Data. All that hard work seems to leave plenty of time.

Yea, we have a choice, take a pay cut and have more time or fire people and work full time
After years of people pointing out that most Americans pay more than JUST INCOME TAXES, it's amazing to see the same clown show propping up more of the same half-truths.
In other news, did you know that the rich pay ALL the taxes that come from passing on estates worth more than $4M to their children? Obviously we need to cut that rate to make it fair...
Ummm ... there are other taxes we pay besides income tax, right?
I mean, I pay property tax, city wage tax, state income tax, a gas tax every time I pump fuel in my car, taxes on my electric bill and my cable/internet bill, sales tax on most of my purchases, not to mention tolls on roads and bridges, airport taxes, etc. etc.
Ben Franklin observed 250 years ago that two things cannot be avoided: death and taxes.
