Perhaps the customer shouldn't have let the server serve her if she was so against the server's "lifestyle". Apparently the server introduced herself as Dana and the customer said, "I thought you were going to say your name was Dan".
So much for people not having their right of Freedom of Speech.
Come on, Phil. Use that little gray matter and actually understand the concepts you are trying to espouse before you go blabbering about something.
Here, let me help you:
"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."
You see how the principle of "free speech" applies to government? It does not mean that people should be allowed to say whatever they want without having to face consequences. It simply means that government can not prevent them from making an ass out of themselves, from offending anyone, or from criticizing the government.
Tips are discretionary so I don't see the problem. Are you surprised that these patrons are not Christian?
Yes, tipping is discretionary. Still, common convention is to tip for good service and to withhold a tip for bad service.
Common convention is NOT to withhold a tip because you don't approve of blacks, or women, or fat people, or because your server is a buddhist.
That's not discretion, that is being an anus. No crime was committed - but these people are still giant a-holes.
