The southern states seceded and were a separate country. They did nothing wrong or treasonous toward D.C.
Of course...well, basically. It's always been that way throughout history with every country. The U.S. didn't gain legitimacy in the world's eyes until the French, Dutch and Spanish recognized us. Before then, we were just a set of colonies in rebellion against the British Empire. That's what essentially made the Revolution different from the CSA's little stunt in the 1860s.
If other countries don't view you as a legitimate country, they're not going to contract alliances, trade deals or anything else with you. Countries need international recognition in order to exist. Why do you think Jeff Davis was trying to get Britain and France to recognize them? It wasn't just for military support, for sure.
I thought everyone with a simple knowledge of international relations knew that.

Their action was not against the government in D.C.; it was against the Union. The preservation of the Union was more important that the federal government in D.C.

It simply pointed out that blacks have a good lifestyle here compared to Africa. Plenty of genocide and black on black crime in many countries of Africa....
