A federal appeals court has denied a broader hearing in an East Tennessee school Confederate flag case.

A three-judge panel of the 6th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Cincinnati ruled in August that Blount County public school officials could ban the wearing of Confederate symbols on clothing at William Blount High School. The decision affirmed lower court rulings.

If a school can deem wearing a shirt with a political candidate on it too distracting, than I think they can do the same in this case.

I'm going to agree with you, school's have a right to establish a dress code, and that includes not wearing shirts that some might find offensive.

Thats true enough....I'm all for a school uniform at the end of the day. Lets just solve ALL the problems around school clothes. The kids can wear what they will out of class but while there EVERYONES the same

Well, I think it should be up to the individual schools. But I would most definitely be in support of a more strict dress code. If I were running a school, I guess I would say, no hats, no shirts with writing or pictures on them (takes care of the possibility for offensive shirts), and no outfit that reveals anything between the neck and knee. Why no hats (I know some will wonder)? Maybe it's just because I'm of an old-fashioned mindset... hats are to be worn outside, not inside.
