Lyndon Baines Johnson, a 'Dixiecrat' hailing from the great state of Texas, succeeded John F. Kennedy as the 36th President of the United States. During most of his tenure in Congress, spanning from 1937 to 1956, Johnson railed against every Civil Rights bill introduced by Republicans. Johnson quickly accepted the "writing on the wall" and realized, like his KKK Democrat predecessors in Lincoln's day, that the black vote must be secured. For a little background on the subject- After the Civil War, Democrats attempted to scare African Americans by using "Vote or Die" propaganda, designed to instill a sense of fear for those living in the southern states.
Despite heavy opposition against the Civil Rights Act of 1957 by Democrats, including John F. Kennedy, Johnson was convinced that if his party could steal the 'thunder' from the Republican lead Civil Rights efforts, support among black voters would shift .
"These Negroes, they're getting pretty uppity these days and that's a problem for us since they've got something now they never had before, the political pull to back up their uppityness. Now we've got to do something about this, we've got to give them a little something, just enough to quiet them down, not enough to make a difference. For if we don't move at all, then their allies will line up against us and there'll be no way of stopping them, we'll lose the filibuster and there'll be no way of putting a brake on all sorts of wild legislation. It'll be Reconstruction all over again." --Sen. Lyndon B. Johnson (D., Texas), 1957
Many African-Americans were divided and expressed great skepticism over Johnson's newfound support for civil rights. Although Kennedy did next to nothing with regard to advancing civil rights during his presidency, he saw the importance of of taking a cue from Johnson's play book and reaching out to MLK's wife, after the civil rights leader was imprisoned for a probation violation. The apparent PR stunt seemed to contradict Robert and John Kennedy's true intentions; which involved covert FBI wiretapping and a ramped-up investigation of King.
"I did not lie awake at night worrying about the problems of Negroes."
--Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy, 1961
Kennedy later authorized wiretapping the phones and bugging the hotel rooms of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
Shortly after Robert Kennedy secured the release of MLK-- Martin Luther King Sr., a lifelong Republican--switched his support to subsequent Democrat leaders. Some argue that Martin Luther King Senior's support for Democrats helped solidify the mass exodus of African-Americans from the Republican party.
After taking credit for Republican efforts toward equality and gaining support from black voters, LBJ needed to devise a plan to undermine the black community while retaining the new voter base. LBJ's "Great Society" plan, along with Left-wing Progressive ideologues successfully did just that.
Touting his underlying intentions for the "Great Society" programs, LBJ confided with two like-minded governors on Air Force One, stating- "I'll have those n*ggers voting Democratic for the next 200 years."
With expanded welfare programs, LBJ ensured the destruction of the "Black family unit" and systematically dismantled any hard fought progress made by early civil rights leaders such as Frederick Douglass.
Despite popular propaganda, studies have shown that the number of black single-parent families sharply increased from 19% at the beginning of World War II, reaching a high of 28% in the early 1960's, thanks to the "War on Poverty" programs. Twenty years after LBJ's "Great Society" programs took full effect, the percentage of single-parent black families grew to 65%. Along with the destruction of the family unit, poverty rates among single black females rose significantly.
The Progressive ties to destroying the black community directly relate to the early Eugenics movement, more specifically, the goals of Planned Parenthood's founder Margaret Sanger. The unapologetic racist openly expressed the desire to rid communities of "undesirables." Sanger expanded her efforts by organizing the 'Negro Project,' which aimed to infiltrate black communities through trusted leaders. Her rationale for using prominent black leaders to advocate birth control and abortion to further her agenda can be summed up in one quote:
"We do not want word to go out that we want to exterminate the Negro population, and the minister is the man who can straighten out that idea if it ever occurs to any of their more rebellious members."
Sanger and her brand of fanatic Eugenicists were often courted and praised by the KKK. When speaking of the Klu Klux Klan in her autobiography, Sanger stated:
"I accepted an invitation to talk to the women's branch of the Ku Klux Klan...I saw through the door dim figures parading with banners and illuminated crosses...I was escorted to the platform, was introduced, and began to speak...In the end, through simple illustrations I believed I had accomplished my purpose. A dozen invitations to speak to similar groups were proffered."
Currently, 78% of all Planned Parenthood offices are located in predominantly black or minority neighborhoods. Three out of five black women go through with abortion , over 1700 black children are aborted each day, and over 13 million since 1973.
Despite these horrible historical facts, elitist Progressive Democrats in power continue to undermine minorities under the guise of "choice" and failed welfare policies.
