The reason why partisan debate is full of slit is due to the binary assumptions inherent to the debates. Light on light off. That is is what the two political parties represent in rhetoric. In other words, if you flick the switch to democrats and it produces darkness, then binary logic means that had the switch been flicked to republicans it therefore would have produced light. The truth is that often the switch does not work and thus flicking the switch changes nothing. It stays dark or stays light.
Hence, the fact that blacks are doing worse under Obama does NOT mean that they would have done better, found light, had there been a republican in office. The fact is that things were trending downward for blacks when Obama took office and regardless of what party one, that was going to continue. The NAACP is simply pointing out the irony of things getting worse for blacks during the era when the nation has its first black president. That having been said, Obama could not do anything for blacks without risking his tenure....because the white electorate would not stand for it.
