There was no temple around when Lot was protecting his sons and offering his daughters in place of them, to the Sodomites that surrounded his house.

I think you're mixing up your anti-gay stories, seeing as the story about Sodom says nothing about what you just posted. Lesbians are NEVER mentioned in the Hebrew Bible.

Those men were not called Sodomites. Sodom was destroyed for inhospitality. The Bible specifically tells you that, and has been the meaning for thousands of years.
What I don't understand is how Scalia tried to make the claim the majority ASSUMED that the motive of the DOMA was to inflict injury.
They didn't "assume". When the bill was being presented, the house judiciary commitee stated that purpose of it was to "reflect and honor a collective moral judgment and to express moral disapproval of homosexuality". I guess that's not saying "we want to harm Homosexuals by denying them the same rights as heterosexuals" directly, but it might as well.
