I watch RT often as I feel they have news stories that are much more relevant and hard-hitting than soft/irrelevant/Government approved MSM opinion hit-pieces.

I also love the third-party debates. It is pathetic that only Bank owned Dems and Repubs are allowed to participate in these debates.

Democracy Now is the best though. And, it's all-American!

I wasn’t prompted to make this thread by any single piece they did. It was always their undertone that I didn't like. I remember a year ago when they had Dennis Kucinich on one of their shows. I enjoyed seeing him on, but they only wanted to hear from him when he was suing president Obama. There was another report they did about a woman, in my city who, was arrested for what they claimed was filming police but turned out not to be the case. I wonder if the news anchor could even find Rochester on a map. The agenda was so painfully obvious in both cases; and for that matter in nearly everything they air.

It appears that RT has also resorted to reporting on conspiracy theories about 9/11 and the “New world order”. Some of the stuff that winds up on there is just laughable.

I think the third party debates are one of the few times RT is actually doing something productive. I’m a big fan of Jill Stein so I’ll need to check some of those debates out online before the election. While I’m glad that someone is hosting a debate, theres something I don’t like about it being hosted by Russian state tv. It also makes me think of how they would react if a tv station that was founded 100% by the US government set up shop in Russia; and started giving coverage to candidates who were “challenging” Vladimir Putin.

And I concur Democracy Now beats the hell out of RT.

Are they not? Most of the people who I’ve talked to who watch RT are either progressives or libertarians. This shouldn’t be too surprising as all RT does is criticize the US government and neither of these groups are satisfied with the status quo. It looks like there might also be a lot of people who are watching RT just because they enjoy watching everything all across the board.

Now that I’m starting reiterate my earlier thoughts I feel like we might be starting to beat a dead horse here…Thanks for all the people who posted.

so give me a ballpark number, how many people have you asked about RT? And how did you determine that they were progressive or libertarian? Did you ask?

RT and Al-Jazeera are the only ones that covered last nights 3rd Party debate. CSPAN also aired it, but no one else.

only time I watched was when Fukishima had the meltdown sincerusia sent up Tu-95 with special Equipment to pick up Radation Levels the to see how bad the Radioactive fallout was and the see the amount of Radation that was going into in the jetstream.

They were the first to Report that it was alot worse then Tepco had let on and they were down playing the extent but I think it was to prevent even more Panic in Japan after what they had been through but R/T was not using reports from Tepco but using their own findings and well in the end they were right about it being worse then the Japanese Govronment was letting on.

Why are so many of leftists and Libertarians drawn to this network? I find this so ironic because one thing that both groups seem to agree on is that our current government is corrupt and is teeming with so much wall st /corperate money that the democracy is being eroded (a reasonable concern)…yet at the same time the Russian government is 100 times more corrupt then ours. Their sorry excuse for a government is basically no more than a mafia state.

What passes for “journalism” on RT usually amounts to little more than a bunch of anti-American tirades. None of you would trust a news network that was funded 100% by the US government, nor should you, but then you turn right around and watch a network that is funded entirely by another country which has far more problems than ours. They have absolutely no credibility on the issue of government corruption; nor should they be spewing fiction about “police states” or “unfair elections” when they actually do have a police state and their elections are a complete sham.

BTW I would like to add that I am a progressive myself and I realize that sometimes our government needs to be criticized. With that being said I would like to remind RT watchers to consider who is doing the criticizing. Can’t you see that there is an agenda here?
Yes, there's an agenda.

Hopefully, people's intelligence will be raised through careful evaluation of both sides of the subject.

Peace,
brian
