I tend to watch the news from as many sources as possible.
The problem with only watching one source is the bias and slant involved.
It is not so much what they are telling you, but what they leave out.
RT among many other news sources have their own bias, but they fill in, what the others leave out, in order to get the bigger picture.
The main thing is to be a responsible and informed person and that comes from viewing as many sources as possible.
The US News networks are biased and all cater to the status quo, and have no obligation to tell the truth, so it is even less reliable than other news sources.
This is a question that is aimed mainly at progressives, socialists, and libertarians but I would be interesting to hear any feedback. Why are so many of leftists and Libertarians drawn to this network?
I've never heard of it until this thread. Perhaps you are looking at a bad sample.

I find this so ironic because one thing that both groups seem to agree on is that our current government is corrupt and is teeming with so much wall st /corperate money that the democracy is being eroded (a reasonable concern)…yet at the same time the Russian government is 100 times more corrupt then ours. Their sorry excuse for a government is basically no more than a mafia state.
What passes for “journalism” on RT usually amounts to little more than a bunch of anti-American tirades. None of you would trust a news network that was funded 100% by the US government, nor should you, but then you turn right around and watch a network that is funded entirely by another country which has far more problems than ours. They have absolutely no credibility on the issue of government corruption; nor should they be spewing fiction about “police states” or “unfair elections” when they actually do have a police state and their elections are a complete sham.
BTW I would like to add that I am a progressive myself and I realize that sometimes our government needs to be criticized. With that being said I would like to remind RT watchers to consider who is doing the criticizing. Can’t you see that there is an agenda here?

Because they think that by tuning into something that is not a mainstream western news source somehow validates them as more broad thinking and less like the sheeple.
While I think it is good to good news/information from various sources the trap people fall into is thinking one they choose just on the basis of it not being the mainstream in the US is somehow without bias or any less agenda driven than that which they avoid.
