At some point we need to address costs. Otherwise, that 17% of GDP going to medical expenses will only go up giving an aging populace. All politicians are addressing is who pays.

If there was a social cost, they would find their own birth control. Every other brilliant socialist idea in family planning has sapped demand as has the removal of social stigmas. Its like the Federal Reserve of condoms setting a zero interest rate on them , tossing them around like confetti. When there is no demand, supply doesn't matter.

I sure do hope so. Years ago people had lots of kids because there was no birth control and there was no Govt, which ment there was no money almost like now...

But the difference was since there was no money in the first place having kids was for free literally.

It just takes a govt to wreck a good time, and even back then the beer was for free...

Good beer, fast broads, no govt, and look what we have done?!

Years ago people had lots of kids because you might need to give birth 7 times to have 3 survive to adulthood.

The Soviet outlawed birth control and the birth rates were low. The birth rate in the U.S. was very low during the Great Depression and there was no birth control.

I could go for some good beer, fast broads and no govt though.

I really don't get the complaining about BC and can't even pinpoint what folks are complaining about. The fact that someone may get bc without paying? The fact that Catholic employers must provide the same coverage as everyone else to their employees? The fact that it's considered preventative and thus offered without copay by insurance that people pay for themselves? I don't know if this is a personal responsibility issue, a religious issue, a "sluts keep your legs closed" issue, or what.

Every time I logic it out the "BC PROBLEM" it comes down to someone having sex and not having to have a baby as a result. People agree it's a good thing to not have unwanted babies, people agree that humans have sex, people agree that women give birth but that men plant the seed (so this isn't just a womans issue), and people agree than when babies are born we are all going to pay for that if the parents can't or won't. So the controversy baffles me.

Serious question for those who are against this.

Why?

Seriously, what impact could this POSSIBLY have on your life to justify the outrage? Seems like a very simple topic, and between the women and their doctors and insurance companies.

Just curious.

You answered your own question. If it's between those 3 parties then why should anyone else be forced to pay for it????????????????????????????????

And when my taxes go up it does have an impact on my life.

Your taxes? You are seriously going to single out bc as something YOU PAY FOR with YOUR TAXES? Your taxes pay for those babies too. Much much more.

Tell yourself this: YOUR TAXES are paying for "whateveryoulikehere" and other peoples taxes pay for "whateveryoudon'tlike". Society flourishes.

THis is the way our country works and when it comes to healthcare it's GOING to change whether you like it or not. IT HAS TO. Work with it, create a better system, don't fight every little detail becasue you can't micromanage it yourself.

You don't seem to get it. That's what this thread is all about, insurance paying for BC w/o a co-pay as it does for all preventive care under the ACA. This is not a tax issue, no matter how much some people have tried to turn it into one.

Pretty sure that the people paying for it are the consumers and/or their employers.

Failing that though, let's assume...just for the sake of argument...that we're talking medicaid here. Even then, what difference does it make to you if the birth control is covered?
