I think that is an unfair representation of Roberts. Personally, as an independent (and remembering when he was nominated) I thought that he was a good, moderate judge, who took his role on the SC very seriously. I thought it was a great thing of Bush to do, nominating someone studied in the law, versus someone who was just hardlined right wing puppet.
