What makes you think the SC members aren't being blackmailed with the info being collected by the NSA?
Remember the inexplicable Obamacare vote by Chief Justice Roberts?
How do you know birds aren't flying out of my butt? Anyone can suspect anything, regardless of how outlandish, but what separates a theory from a wild accusation is facts and proof. Do you have any evidence to think SC members ARE being blackmailed with the info being collected by the NSA?
I can just as easily suspect that the NSA is blackmailing Mr. Obama, as his actions on secrecy and Fourth Amendment issues are not consistent with his lifetime views and more closely mimic Bush's polices. Ah, so maybe both Bush and Obama are/were blackmailed by the NSA?
I don't think the first sentence is self evident and the courts rule on cases in controversy. Is there any substance to this thread?
It is self-evident, but you are MTA a notoriously low-information poster that doesn't pay attention to them reaffirming their unwavering support. The POTUS said it was necessary and so did the select group of congressmen that were in the know of the program (Mike Rodgers, etc), along with the NSA (executive branch if you need help) and depending on the public polling (the guiding light of politicians) it is like everything else and 50/50 split which has emboldened them further.
So, as usual you don't know much of anything as far as facts and literal speeches, the OP has a great point and now I will leave the children's table for the big boys to discuss.
The SCOTUS will, in my opinion rule 5-4 against the FISA court general warrant permission. If no one recuses, I think they will dramatically curtail the scope of information they can pull without the same reasonable burden a civilian crime would have and have some sort of oversight that reports to all congressmen with public scrutiny being a new ingredient moving forward.
The liberal judges are typically of higher principle than their peers, the politicians. They will/should with the addition of Scalia (his is guaranteed against this in my eyes) overrule the remaining GOP judges + RINO Roberts since this is something near and dear to their hearts throughout history.
The SCOTUS will in the short-term be the de facto trial of Edward Snowden, they will decide whether he is a traitor or hero to the vast majority of Americans with probably a new look one way or the other 50 years from now when the experiment has played out more IMO.

You may have forgotten that the Court refused to hear a case brought before the court by the ALCU...Do you remember the reasoning by the Court?
