The religious wackos screw everything up. Without them, people would be more focused on real politics and we'd not be arguing about stupid things like gay marriage.

No. You're wrong. First, the value of our money has to do with monetary policy, which is different from fiscal policy. In our country, monetary policy is dictated by the Fed, which is outside the influence of Congress. They are encouraging spending till there's no end with low interest rates and that fuels private debt and inflation erodes the value of our money, which raises prices but doesn't raise our wages or salaries.

Second, like the article points out, Americans have a bad habit of overspending themselves when it comes to consumer goods and such. There are far too many people in this country that live in a 3000 square foot 3-4 bedroom house when it's just a 3 or 4 person household that can get by in 900 square feet. Sure, it's you're right to buy that big a house of you want, but you're the one stuck with the huge utility bills, high mortgage in the end. The same goes for that car. Go ahead and buy that pickup truck and SUV for the image. If it doesn't snow a lot in the winter, and you live and work in more or less flat level terrain, and you don't use your truck for work (like my brother-in-law does hauling building materials), you'll pay the price for that image you want. So, keep on racking up those credit card charges for fuel!

Third, many young Americans are still moving out right after graduation. This is unsustainable and it discourages saving for the future, causing that person to get more into debt further down the road when it comes to buying house or car. This is the dumbest thing American culture has, and thankfully, it is dying down and coming back down to Earth. Nothing wrong in trying to be unique to the rest of the world, but this is just plain stupid. This also encourages middle aged Americans to just dump their parents out to a nursing home instead of taking them in themselves.

Fourth, sort of ties in with number three, but too many young people are wasting their 1st and 2nd year of college at expensive universities, often sleeping in their dorms, studying the same stupid wasteful general education courses that your local community college offers for A LOT LESS. People don't think anymore. The days of going to a prestigious university and getting a job right out of college are long gone. Be more practical and go to the more "regional" colleges and universities and start working as close to home as possible to get your foot in. In this job climate, job experience now matters more than what college you went to. There is no reason to have to go to Ivy League Private anymore, shelling out $60,000+ a year to try to wedge yourself into the middle of the career ladder over someone who started out as the mail room worker working his way up to department manager without being $240,000+ in debt. Plus, he also has the working experience to be an effect manager, you just have a piece of paper that says you studied on the theories of business management, when you haven't a clue on how the company mailing system runs.

Fifth, AMA needs to stop limiting the amount of physicians that can be licensed in the U.S. every year. That artificially inflates the prices of health care because it creates an artificial shortage of health care professionals. In San Juan County, PR, there is a county run first response medical team throughout the county, so-called Health Centers (Centros de Salud) that stabilize you and take the more minor loads off hospitals (I imagine this is also how Spain runs their healthcare system). Also, I think PR has more doctors than average in a comparably sized city, plus healthcare costs are a lot lower and salaries are a bit lower than on the mainland, but most people can afford healthcare in Puerto Rico, health insurance is a lot less expensive. The U.S. mainland model is corrupt and wasteful

In other and fewer words we should live more like sane people in the rest of the world. That makes sense to me.

Wow-

Perhaps it is the left. Let us review the list

NAFTA
China most favored nation trade status
instituting the welfare state
breaking up the family with government support to promote single parent families
drug culture
EPA restrictions which drive employers from the US
high corporate taxes
no national right to work act
open door immigration policy
higher energy costs due to EPA regulations

THE LEFT is obsessed with gay marriage and social issues. Conservatives are only concerned with the economy and in general do not care about social issues. Social issues are the luxury of a fully employed, prosperous nation. We need to focus again on what is important.

Your Fifth point - FOR THE MILLIONTH TIME-

1. THE AMA DOES NOT DETERMINE THE NUMBER OF MEDICAL STUDENT AND RESIDENCY SLOTS
2. THE AMA IS A LEFT WING POLITICAL ORGANIZATION
3. MOST PHYSICIANS DO NOT BELONG TO THE AMA
4. THE AMA IS POPULATED BY MOSTLY EAST AND WEST COAST PRIMARY CARE DOCS
5. CONGRESS DETERMINES THE NUMBER OF MEDICAL SCHOOL AND RESIDENCY SLOTS BY SUBSIDIES
6. IF YOU WANT MORE MEDICAL STUDENTS, COMPLAIN TO YOUR REPRESENTATIVES
7. OVERHEAD CONSUMES 45% (on average) OF PHYSICIAN REVENUES
8. CUT REIMBURSEMENT 50% AND YOU PUT PHYSICIANS OUT OF BUSINESS
9. PHYSICIAN SALARIES ACCOUNT FOR ONLY 7% OF HEALTHCARE EXPENSES

Where do you guys get this ridiculous false information about the AMA? It is like some tin foil conspiracy theory (however, it has less factual basis than most other conspiracy theories). Get your facts straight!

And just WHAT positive things have the self-Righteous accomplished in the past 30 years besides pi$$ing away $$$ on their own pet little projects like SDI, wasteful defense spending, and needless wars of choice that will impact the country for decades to come?

I agree with you on one thing, conservatives DON'T care about social issues, the only 'people' they give a rat's ass about have names ending in INC and the country is the poorer for it.

No, they didn't steal it.
The dream was always just a dream, avarice got in the way of any reality.
