Read "The Road to Serfdom" by Hayek. Accepting a dictatorship that "can fix all of our problems with no one interfering" is the final step towards slavery.

Today's America is a good example of how a government creates problems and offers to fix them if you accept to give up just a little more money and freedom and so on and so on.
