You should have linked the Pew study, not a blog post. That's a deduction for credibility.
That having been said, one can make the same observations about other foreign-language immigrant communities in the USA. Particularly in Chicago where one often hears people communicate in their birth languages. Polish, Arabic, various states in Africa, Greek. I could go on. I find the challenge in the Hispanic community being the large number of illegal aliens who, for obvious reasons, have not assimilated.
I agree. Growing up in NYC in the 60's the small minded falted the Italians and the chinese, polish and even irish.
Get out in the cities and you will find that the Hispanics are starting small business as every other new immigrant group has in our country. We are all Americans.
Why does everybody have to "assimilate" to American culture?
I think there are many things to like about hispanic" culture personally and we should embrace these differences
Why should they start acting American with our coarse culture, ugly fashions and rude manners?
I'd be interested in knowing what those are, exactly. Landscaping workers? Unemployed workers in Home Depot parking lot? Mexican grocery stores? 23 year old barefoot and pregnant (again) uneducated and poverty stricken women? Anchor babies? MS-13?
Feel free to point me in the right direction. So far i've failed to see any real value to *most* hispanics in America, especially from the intruders who have invaded our nation over the last 20 years.
How does being anti-illegal equate to being anti-Hispanic? I am not anti-Spanish. Are you referring to the country or the language? I made my position clear in black and white to you so why are you still questioning it anyway? Trying to put your own spin and twist on it?

Your disdain for Hispanics is obvious in the way you stereotype them. Please try to control your hate.
I'll give you my story for an example:
My mother is from Mexico, came here illegally, married an American and became legal through the Reagan amnesty. She and my father have owned a Farmers market in Wellington, FL for 30 years growing vegetables and cactus, nopalitosHispanic foods. They now employ 10 workers and specialize in nopalitos...which believe it or not, Americans LIKE. They have many customers. That's a cultural bridge.
When I have 150 years, maybe I can answer the question.
It's culture, not an automated text message; it takes longer than 17 seconds for assimilation to take place.
What exactly is "American society?"
Perhaps you should hire an attorney and sue your former high school, since they obviously didn't teach you the difference between a nation and country.
Or maybe you high school did teach you, but you don't understand, in which case perhaps you can sue your parents for failing to abort you.
I'll try to teach you what you should have learned in high school government about the 3rd or 4th week of class or so.
Nations are homogenous and are characterized by these traits typically held by 90% or more of the population (just like you'd find in any typical European nation-State):
1] a people of a common ancestry; and
2] who have the same culture; and
3] who speak the same language; and
4] use the same alphabet (Croats and Serbs both speak Serbo-Croatian but Serbs use the Cyrillic Alphabet while Croats use a modified Western Alphabet); and
5] who worship the same god(s); and
6] who hold the same religious tenets; and
7] who revere the same heroes; and
8] who cherish the same history; and
9] who celebrate the same holidays; and
10] who share the same music, poetry, art and literature
A country is heterogeneous, having a myriad of cultures. The great thing about a country as opposed to a nation is that a country has a primary or main culture, and then as many sub-cultures as can possibly exist.
A nation has one culture only -- there are no others -- I take it you're either too young or too ignorant to be aware of something like German counter-culture/underground culture.
Nations tend to be very intolerant and repressive of alien cultures, thus they are prone to things like National Socialism and Fascism.
Generally, it is near impossible for a country to gravitate toward National Socialism or Fascism. That could only happen under extreme or unusual circumstances.
Massive illegal immigration from Spanish speaking countries is creating this problem all over the country. Everywhere I go Hispanics are speaking exclusively in Spanish and even at that I am sure they aren't all illegal aliens. They are very arrogant about using their native tongue and they don't give a damn that we are an English speaking country. I don't care what language someone chooses to speak at home but out in mainstream America why not speak this nation's language?
I agree and its disrespectful to not speak the language in the country

Fail? I think I did fail. I failed to understand that you are not on a rant because you love or appreciate the English language. No, you are just lazy as hell and don't want to have to make an effort to understand other people unless THEY make the effort to speak in a way you understand. That is where YOU FAIL. You not only fail to understand the history of your language, but you fail to understand simple English (and the simple point made in that language). But, at least you've achieved Archie Bunkerism!!! Congratulations, you sir, are a winner!!
