As a sophomore in high school, I feel pretty much aligned with the opinions of the students in the video. It may seem greedy, but we've been raised with a silver spoon in our mouths, and expect to live like that as well. I'm not defending my age group, I'm just saying that maybe some blame should be put on our parents' generation, who decided to spoil us and protect us from the "Real world". On another note though, if everyone is disgusted with how this generation's acting, why don't the adults do something about it before it's too late. We're going to be in charge soon, and I'm worried about how this nation is going to run if the we expect to be given everything. I don't have any answers, but I guess that's expected of a "Greedy kid" like myself. I just know there needs to be change, fast.

The elite, the media, and the ignorant are letting the really selfish get everything by not looking at the real cause.

I agree

The policies of the government and those who own it are responsible for the entitlement syndrome.

The ME ME ME culture that pervades America came from the very same people that stress individualism and doing your own thing rather than looking at the country as US as a whole. Any deviation from the ME ME ME mantra to an US is looked at as socialism.

You have parasites that invade our government like the Wall Street Banksters and heads of corps. They are living the entitlement and ME ME ME syndrome which translates down to the rest of the country.

That is, unless were engaged in wars somewhere, then they lump everyone into an US to help fight for them.

"Were" getting attacked, help "US" fight them, or that country is a threat to "US, help US kill them."
When it comes time to collecting the spoils of war, it turns into, go get your own, this is for "ME."

I think they want a chance to succeed through their hard work.
Errr, that would require getting a job first and proving yourself. Going to college isn't "hard work".

So you think the older population should use their "clout" to see that the younger people, who have no "clout" get what is due them? Exactly what "clout" does the older population have?

Opportunities may be limited, but if you look beyond your local area there are plenty of jobs out there and if it means growing up and relocating to get one, then grow up!!! It's not as if you are leaving planet Earth if you relocate to another city.

I don't know of anyone who walked 8 miles to school uphill both ways (whatever than means). I either walked a few blocks, took an bus or hopped a train - going and coming.

Its not an entire generation that has the entitlement mentality, but there seems to be more and more high school and college kids grabbing on to it. In years to come the US is going to have to go outside more and more to bring in expats to do the work because of the expectations that so many kids in the US have or will have, and those same kids will sit around talking about how foreigners are taking jobs away from them.

If those kids who are complaining about how there are no opportunities available to them, since the jobs aren't coming to them, maybe they should look at means for opportunities, such as:

‘All Work, No Pay’: Secrets to landing the perfect internship - books - TODAY.com

but they don't want to work for nothing (internships), conform, work their way up and/or they want a position in middle management.

If you chose not to watch the video or read the excerpt - don't waste time commenting.

Romney, Newt, and Santorum have all sought to expand government while playing the crowds like a cheap fiddle telling them the opposite.
The Republicans play the fiddle for small government to their suckers that want to listen, and sell out to Corporations and Banks for even more powers and bigger government.

And Obama has played the fiddle for ending corruption on Wall Street, ending corruption in government and ending the wars, and we get more of the same.

The conclusion is..... The jack booted thugs don't represent the American people but only their paying masters.

Before or after they send you off to a Death Panel?

They can whine and cry and throw their little temper tantrums all they want, but it matters not. You don't have any money for the pie-in-the-sky-wet-dreams rammed down everyone's throat over the last 70 years. You never did. You don't have any money now, and you're not going to have any money in the future. And you can tax the "rich" at 99.9999% and the only thing you'll succeed in doing is taking all of their money, driving them away, and then you won't have anything to tax.

What I like most is that in their attempt to create the perfect hand-out dictatorship, they'll destroy everything, and then everyone will be a lot worse off, including you. If that's what you want to embrace, then go ahead.

Laughing from afar....

Since Fox and conservatives are against socialism as a form of government and you seem to be the opposite I wonder when the redistribution of wealth can end and you still be happy. Is it after all these kids get their tuition paid for them by those "rich" people or after those horrible wealthy people have been made equal, in wealth, to those kids?
Talking with you is so confusing. I don't even know where you get this stuff. At no point did I ever talk about the redistribution of wealth and at no point did I support these kids demanding that government pay for everything.

I support a much higher tax on those with higher incomes. That's not socialism but I am in the majority on this issue. Most people want the rich to pay more. Everyone was doing much better when they paid 60% or more but now that they pay only 35%, we're down a couple trillion in revenue and people--the average joes--are increasingly desperate.

What does John King's berating by Newt have to do with this thread or this subject? It was a relationship issue, not an economic one. It was wrong to start the debate with it but it was indeed the big story of that day and newspeople do tend to go for that kind of stuff at the expense of what's really important.

Ha Ha! Sure if one is born rich , but most were not back then and didn't get many extras growing up.. try cutting grass with a push mower or trimming with a pair of clippers if you had a pair.

Those days were tough. Kids had to invent their own fun such as playing ball or swinging on a old knot swing. And yes, we had to walk to school in freezing weather .

Now buses and all the gadgets the kids have with mom taking them to go to toys r us or the mall . How many dollars worth of gadgets does each kid have today. Laptop, video games , cell phone etc.

It was a big deal to go to a drive in movie . The kids would laugh at what we did as kids to entertain ourselves with a ball or marbles when our parents said to go out and play. So now that generation who worked hard should get nothing even when they funded social security and earned it.

Oh, there was a draft during the Vietnam war . There was no choosing to go into the military in those days. So tell me why they should do without now when they are old.
