A pox on both their houses. Neither side cares what happens to any of us that aren't making million dollar contributions to their campaigns. Until we have true campaign finance reform and take the money out of politics once and for all we are nothing but pawns in their games.

While I agree the idea of a 2 month payroll taxcut is idiotic at best. Reid is an obstructionist and Obama is blocking shovel ready jobs in the private sector, plain and simple.

Even if the Senate Democrats want to extend it again for a longer period, guarantees are needed to actually help the economy. The House Republicans want to do something that could help a little now, the Senate Democrats want to promote uncertainty and still harm the SS trust fund for two months.

The Democrats on this forum constantly go on and on about how the GOP never compromises. Well, this is what Obama originally wanted and now it's the Democrats whose vacation is more important than actually considering it.

I think you need to recheck your facts.

The Senate Democrats and Republicans compromised to reach a bipartisan deal to extend the payroll tax cut for two months. This was after the Senate Democrats originally wanted a full year of payroll tax cut extension and the GOP rejected it because of the Keystone Pipeline that wouldn't be approved by Obama.

So both sides in the Senate made concessions -- the Democrats gave up their full year payroll tax cut extension while the Republicans didn't get their Keystone Pipeline.

Now the House GOP is flip flopping on the issue since they originally didn't support a full year of payroll tax extension without making it a poison bill. And look at them, they are too chicken to even do a direct vote on it.

Surely you meant to say Senate Republicans are obstructionists?

Remind us again the LAST time the Senate passed a budget.

Exactly!

Accordingly, NPRC advises policymakers that we believe there is insufficient lead time to accommodate the proposal embodied in H.R. 3630. In our opinion enactment of HR 3630 as written could create substantial problems, confusion and costs affecting a significant percentage of U.S. employers and employees.

The difficulty is in establishing a new Social Security Taxable Wage limit of $18,350 for the two-month extension period. More than ten percent of the workforce1 is likely to meet that limit, and would be subject to the higher 6.2% tax rate for earnings over that amount. However, many payroll systems are not likely to be able to make such a substantial programming change before January or even February. The systems affected tend to be highly complex, normally requiring at least ninety days for a change of this magnitude for software testing alone; not to mention analysis, design, coding and implementation.

You are exactly right. Obama would not give up on his job destruction agenda, screwing around with the pipeline until after the election, or after Canada decided to just pipe the oil to the coast for sale to China, or whatever it took at all costs to prevent those American jobs. The Republicans tried to force the issue and get the jobs, but Obama is a man of integrity when it comes to job prevention. Nothing is going to stand in his way, not even a tax increase that he has described as "a catastrophe" (as if funding Social Security is now some kind of a grave sin.)

It is pathetic that a measure to actually create real jobs can be referred to by zealots as "a poison bill."

old bob knows but he also knows what the Dems want to be the program and that is where he is looking. Just think about how many times Dirty Harry has bypassed the established method by declaring bills from the House, DOA, and not allowing the membership to consider them.

Think about Dirty Harry not being willing to pass a budget for over 3 years. He likes the way we have allowed Obama to keep spending without a real plan to control it. It makes me want to tear my hair out, if I had any, thinking about what has been going on and the games they have been playing.
