They didn't ban Christmas gifts, they just said they can't be handed out during class time. Before & after school and during lunch they are allowed. Teachers are also allowed to decorate, and students can wish each other a Merry Christmas at any time.
LOL Well I hardly think the failing of American schools is because of a one hour party here and there.
Totally misplaced blame, right there.
I don't either. Strawman alert!!! What I said was that they haven't earned a party. Once they get on par with South Korea and Slovak Republic we'll talk, till then, hit them books.

Good. Glad we are on the same page.
Since we both agree that a party here and there doesn't make or break a child's education in the American school system, we are back to square one. I don't see the issue with parties at school.
It would be fine by me and, actually, that could serve an educational purpose (to educate kids about different religions).
But that's moot because I wasn't even talking about Christmas parties in a religious sense - just a holiday, "Christmas season," non-religious celebration.
If they want kids to have a generic party, that's cool with me. A time to share gifts and have a little fun, great.
Educating kids about different religions and celebrating religions are two very different things that shouldn't be co-mingeld.

I just really don't see why having a Christmas celebration in school, let alone calling it that, offends anyone. I remember in grade school we always made little Christmas crafts as well as Hanukkah crafts sometimes, etc, during December. They would always acknowledge Ramadan. Nobody was offended.
