That's actually false.

See: PolitiFact Virginia | George Allen says Barack Obama promised stimulus would keep unemployment below 8 percent

Quote:
Allen, a former governor and U.S. senator, is not the only Republican peddling the claim. Rep. Michele Bachmann, R-Minn., and conservative pundit George Will have made similar statements. So did Virginia’s Eric Cantor, now House Majority Leader, back in July 2009.

PolitiFact has ruled that they had their facts wrong. Allen’s are wrong, too.

Obama warned upon taking office that if "dramatic action" were not taken, "the unemployment rate could reach double digits," with the recession lasting years. But neither we, nor our colleagues at PolitiFact’s Washington, D.C. bureau, could find evidence of anyone in the administration making a public pledge along the lines of "if we pass the stimulus, we promise unemployment will stay below 8 percent."

Please read the truth about Obama spending compared to Bush.

You're so sure of yourself, so don't be afraid.

The truth is - your President fails.
Any link that quotes the long discredited Laffer Curve as fact has no credibility. However, the main point of YOUR link is that it is inappropriate to put spending with tax cuts -- "spending is spending, and tax cuts are tax cuts." But that's exactly what the right-wing does when they call the stimulus "$800 billion in spending," when $300-400 billion of the stimulus were tax-cuts.

But that isn't the point of my chart. The point of my chart is that right-wingers attribute all spending increases to Obama policies, which is deceiving. We have laws that pre-date Obama. Among those are laws entitling people to unemployment benefits, Food Stamps and other safety-net programs. In an economic downturn, spending on those programs rise automatically.

It looks something like this:

So, what we’re seeing isn’t some drastic expansion of government by Obama; we’re seeing the government we already had, responding to a terrible economic slump.

Not a huge fan of being thrown into one monolithic group. Many, most, but not ALL Blacks always vote democratic.

Not a bad response MTAtech.

This is my opinion. Government spending and Government istelf needs to be trimmed dramatically.

I understand Democrats believe in BIG government. It's definitely a difference of opinion.

Spending should be reduced, and if it takes a Republican House, Senate and President to do it, then that's what's going to have to happen.

Sadly, they will vote for him because they cannot see past their bias. As someone who use to be a liberal democrat, it has nothing to do with if he is doing a good job, if he is qualified or if he should be re-elected. It has everything to do with buzz words, trite comments and the anti-conservative core of the democratic party. If a conservative candidate was the best person for the job, they would still not vote for him/her. Why? Well lets see, according to liberals conservatives are:
dumb/ignorant
religious nutters
hate mongers
racists
anti women
capitalists (and there is nothing worse then those who are successful and have worked hard to make millions)
people who only care about the unborn until they are born
etc.

Of course those descriptions might fit some people, but as a whole they are wrong. It took my leaving the Northeast and living in the south to see that what I used to believe is just plain wrong.

Of course, as it happened last time, Obama will get a free pass by the main stream media, and political correctness (the Marxist undoing of our great nation) will not allow a fair fight unless the opposing candidates are a part of an equally protected group. Just do not blame anyone from any minority group for this. It is fear and lies that have created an atmosphere were ideas and truths cannot be presented openly.

If re-elected in 2012 I do not think America will ever recover from the Obama Presidency. It's like watching an auto accident in slow motion and seeing that most of the onlookers choose to ignore what is happening or about to happen.
