I say keep flying sister! As long as she's not meaning it a disrespect, or degrading symbol, I see no problem!

I just wanted to hear what some of ya'll had to say on here. Because the people commenting on the story were all against it and so very upset about the whole idea of the confederate flag! It's nuts!
So, I would assume that you had a big problem when the Tea Party carried posters of President Obama dressed as an African Witch Doctor? Or the sign claiming President Obama is "The Magic Negro"? No disrespect intended there huh?

All this protected under the First Amendment. We have to accept it but we don't have to like it. Same with the flag of the seditionists.

Version 1 with 13 stars.

Also have a pre-2001 Georgia state flag and a Bonnie Blue Flag (actually a Republic of West Florida flag....)

Just curious. Why? And what was the point you were trying to make?

I know facts aren't a liberal strong point, but just like liberals wrongly attribute "I can see Alaska from my backyard" to Sarah Palin, when it was actually Tina Fey of SNL that said it, Barack the Magic Negro was first printed in the New York Times in 2008, before the Fox News tea parties came into existence

The point we were trying to make is that by electing him, the country was taking a step back in time. It was a sign of protest against people voting for him. It was a way for us to get people to ask us about it, and a chance to explain our problems with Obama and the Democrats as a whole.

Actually that didn't bother me at all!!! Couldn't care less! (Didn't vote for him, actually)

I'm white, but have lived in Africa for more than half my life, my hometown is Charlotte...so I have a very conservative yet very unbiased way of thinking and perspective...

Anyways...this has nothing to do with the topic....sorry, back to it!

She has the right to fly the flag. Freedom of speech.

South Carolina does not have a specific spite fence statute like some states do, so the neighbors are probably safe, else she could counter and try to leverage with a private nuisance suit. Waste of time either way, as neither thing should be illegal.

I think its really silly for people to fly the confederate flag and claim "heritage". Everyone (including them) knows its a symbol of hatred and that while they may have the "right" to fly it, it doesnt make it "right" to do so. You dont see a lot of Germans flying the Nazi flag and claiming "its part of my heritage" do you? If you do see someone flying it, they are doing so to announce their hatred towards a certain group of people, just the same as those who originally flew the flag.

The "its part of my heritage" argument is just looney.
