Why would anyone invite NASCAR drivers or fans to his home, I don't understand.
Fair question. Send an email to Obama via whitehouse.gov to find out why. Ask him if he's going to chew out the drivers for using private planes to go from race track to race track. He seems to have some fixation on private jets
Why is it racist or politicaly biased when it clearly states they have scheduling conflicts. Which is not a stretch considering these guys have major sponshorships who demand a large portion of their off the track time...
Get over it already, not everyone who declines a visit to the WH is racist or politically biased.. geez..
I wouldn't go out of my way to meet ANY President. Why do people feel you need to drop everything to see him?
I wouldn't either. When I was in Iraq, John McCain was literally in the next room from where I was. I would have been able to go in and have a private conversation with him. He was just waiting around with nothing to do for about a half hour. I didn't bother. I did make my soldier go talk to him though. She is from Arizona, so I thought she should take advantage of the opportunity to speak to her senator. She said he was really old and kind of punchy. (He had a long flight.)
This isn't a dis on Republicans either. Hillary Clinton was in the Iraqi embassy, and I could see her in the distance. I could have waited in a ten minute line and spoken to her for a minute or two. I didn't bother. I went to lunch instead.
The funniest thing though was that one of my soldiers got stuck in the bathroom when Dick Cheney walked in. He was by himself doing his thing at the urinal when a bunch of Secret Service members swept through. Then, Dick walked in and took the stall one over from him. My soldier finished up and said, "hey" -- he didn't know how Dick Cheney was but he knew he must have been important because of his grand entrance into the restroom. Some of my other soldiers who were on the escort team told him it was the VP later on.
Still, if the president invites you to the White House, you should go. That's a little different. However, I must say, I would not accept an invitation to the Bush White House. Had I received one, I would have written back that I don't care to mix with the class of person I would encounter there, not that I had a scheduling conflict.

because people do dumb things like assume when they dont know.
its a moot point anyway since the 5 drivers who declined were there last year.
unless your there agent i dont care what you think on this matter, and people shouldn't talk like they know.
Um, no. He's not a king. People don't have to drop everything and come when he calls.
This is the US. People are still allowed to say no if the President asks them to come. And you are still allowed to voice your opinion that you disagree with that decision.
Some of the comments of the libs on this board have amazed me this week. The President rules over Congress. If the president invites you, you have to drop everything and come. No matter how badly Obama wants to be king, and how badly so libs on this board would like to see this happen, it's not the case, thankfully.
He's not a King but he's not Joe Sixpack either. He's not above the law as well. But he's still the Head of State.
Glad to see I'm not the only one who thinks obama isn't worth the effort...
