GE Moves 115-Year-Old X-Ray Unit

Quote:
General Electric Co. (GE)’s health-care unit, the world’s biggest maker of medical-imaging machines, is moving the headquarters of its 115-year-old X-ray business to Beijing to tap growth in China.

The headquarters will move from Waukesha, Wisconsin, amid a broader parent-company plan to invest about $2 billion across China, including opening six “customer innovation” and development centers.
Well, that's just par for the course, isn't it?

GE pays no taxes, they made a bundle of money last year and they continue to outsource jobs......they have the gall to do this after how much stimulus money obama gave them?

Oh, they say no jobs will be cut...who believes that?

So Americans shouldn't be free to invest their own money how they wish? Why do you want to control the investment strategies of individual citizens?

G.E. Paid No U.S. Taxes in 2010 | The Weekly Standard

G.E. Paid No U.S. Taxes in 2010

Quote:
The company reported worldwide profits of $14.2 billion, and said $5.1 billion of the total came from its operations in the United States.
How much did they pay in taxes? Why, none of course.

Quote:
In fact, G.E. claimed a tax benefit of $3.2 billion.

Funny. You want to have your cake and eat it too as the previous poster indicated.

They're all evil, selfish, greedy corporations except those that support Obama.

Yep, that's about it.

I guess if the Left doesn't raise hell with GE, they don't have much of a leg to stand on with any other corporation moving jobs overseas.

What's the problem conservatives? Its the free market at work. Conservatives are all about tax subsidies to the big corporation, oil companies and tax breaks for the rich (socall job creators). Conservative dont be upset with G.E sending job overseas. When Obama and the Dems wanted to end all subsidies for the big corporation and stop giving tax breaks to corporation who send jobs overseas conservative didn't approve. Saying the tax sudsidies cost will be pass along to consumers and ending tax breaks for the rich will be job killing policies.

Now since its Obama guy now its a problem.

You want to tax those bad evil corporations. So they take off and go somewhere else.
You want them to stay so you can threaten to tax them to death and tax their corporate jets and make them fund your pensions and up your pay ?

The chickens are coming home to roost. And GE is not the only big corporation leaving these shores. This is a global economy with a stable internet. A corporation can operate from anywhere, anywhere in the world. And there's enough loopholes that the US will see very little coming in via taxes.

Tax breaks and loopholes should be for all.
When the state grants them to their cronies (like in this case), they help create and sustain monopolies and the consumer/taxpayer loses.
