I just spent the week in New Orleans, the powerbase for one of the most talented, powerful and destructive forces in the history of music: Lil Wayne. I’ve admittedly bopped my head to the tunes of Lil Wayne in the past, feeling the same guilt that any man might feel if he were to enjoy a crack pipe or shot of heroine, knowing how these drugs destroy families, individuals and communities.
God bless this professor for speaking out on an issue that many of us can't talk about.

So, in essence, this guy is saying the white producers of BET, at Viacom, are picking out the worst, most destructive aspects of the black culture, and promoting them as a way to destroy the black community from within?

If you think that powerful, wealthy people can not and do not use the media to promote various agendas you are sadly wrong. People need to be very, very careful of what they expose their children to.

Of course, but the media is powerless without its audience. Don't blame the drug dealer when you're the one begging to put money in his pocket.

I know. That is why we watch minimal TV in our home. But, the people who control the media are very good at working the masses. Sad for those addicted.
Nobody is twisting anyone's arm to watch BET, Bravo, Lifetime or any other network, people need to take responsibility for their own behavior.
I agree. But, its nice when private citizens & groups help make other people, who may not be as informed, aware of what is going on. These message boards are a good way to do that since MSM is generally of no help and when you have generations growing up in front of the tube, some people actually know no difference.

I remember when people said listening to heavy metal backward would turn you into a satan worshiper.
It didn't work back then with Judas Priest, and this doesn't work in 2011 with Lil'Wayne.
Lucky... you stole my thunder, LOL! That and it also starts at home with the parents, actually being um... you know... PARENTS! Then again, when you have kids, having kids that poses a problem. It's a vicious cycle I guess. I mean, I listened to all types of music, from heavy metal to gangsta rap, and watched all sorts of violent s***, and I turned out fine, as do a lot of others. Then again, I also had 2 parents that would kick my a** if I did something dumb!
