The fish already washed to shore in Redondo Beach on the West Coast. Millions of dead fish.

REDONDO BEACH, Calif. -- Redondo Beach awoke Tuesday to find a carpet of death atop the water. Thousands of silvery sardines floated in the King Harbor marina fin-to-fin. Hundreds of thousands more, perhaps millions, were piled on the coppery bottom, 18 inches deep in some spots.

Only problem is - they washed up just before the earthquake in Japan.

Historic Earthquakes

Japan has been through worse. They will survive and they will thrive again.
Of course. Unfortunately, not all lessons learned make it to following generations and every time a severe event happens it is like we (as in collectively) have to learn it all over again. Which goes back to what I initially said in the beginning. I don't think the Japanese are covering anything up nor are they downplaying it to cover any incompetence or failures due to neglect. This whole thing playing out right now is a serious butt-kicker.

[I can't imagine anyone else doing any better]

Sorry if my sarcasm went over like a lead ballon, read #14 and you'll see what I'm talking about.

I personally think the Japanese have their best (and bravest) people working on their nuclear reactors.

Again, I apologize for my lousy wording.......
Fair enough.
