From your link:

"Yaroslav Shtrombach, first deputy director of Kurchatovsky Institute, stated that it was "a very unpleasant occurrence." "But I think that that it will all be limited to the site of the accident only and there will be no larger catastrophe, if professional measures are taken, of course," the scientist said"

That's a mighty big "if"...

I'm sure the Japanese have their best 4th graders doing the disaster recovery.......

Why on Earth would the Japanese have rookies doing the disaster recovery?

Well, their 4th graders would be better than our college grads, but great minds don't necessarily translate into great resources, especially in a disaster zone.

If they need help, the international community should be all over this like it was D-Day. I'm no nuclear physicist, but it seems to me things are pretty desperate if they are pumping seawater into the reactors and they keep exploding...

... yet the mesage being sent by the Japanese, is that it looks bad but we'll handle it - no worrys.

All governments lie to their people for various reasons, in this case it may be because they don't want to cause any more panic than they already have?

I have been watching this citizen website that tracts radiation. The link was passed on by a nuclear physicist who was scheduled a month ago to decommission these reactors in Japan. The earthquake happened before he got there. This website is now down. All I get is a 404 website cannot be found message. Radiation Network

Why is this down?

We should remember that Japan is dealing with the effects of three catastrophic events simultaneously. I don't think anyone yet knows the level of danger posed by the reactors. Many workers are still trying to sort through the rubble caused by the earthquake and tsunami.

I don't think they are covering up. I think that the situation is spiraling out of control faster than they can come up with an explanation of what is happening. By the time they have an explanation, the situation has changed.

[in other words, they don't know what's going on]

Hmmmm, maybe nobody believed the data they put up on their website?

They did sell radiation meters to the clueless, didn't they?

Or..............

It's a global conspiracy to keep the truth from the masses
