The commercial was in poor taste and willfully plays into the racial stereotypes that prevail about Black women and Black men. However, it does not rise to the level of requiring mention on the floor of the House of Representatives.
Bottom line: if you have a problem with the commercial (1) don't buy that product and (2) write to let the executives of the company know that you do not care for that type of a statement being made and that you will not be purchasing their products as a result
This.
There wasn't a damn thing funny about any bit of that commercial.
Not the black woman constantly kicking and smacking around her husband/boyfriend/whatever he is, which is a stereotype that black women have been trying to overcome for decades (maybe longer).
Not the use of a white woman to turn the head of the black man away from the black woman, which is yet another stereotype.
Not the fact that they injured the woman and then ran off.
Nothing funny about any of it.
Those who found it funny either don't care or don't get it. Either way, it's a poor reflection on them.
