I think it's relevant. I mean, she and 14 others were just shot by some deranged gun nut.

I need to read a little better, I hadn't even noticed she was a Democrat Doesn't really matter, it's a tragedy regardless of her politics, a peaceful (if somewhat confrontational) government is what sets us apart from so many other countries, we can't afford to have this kind of thing happen.

I could almost wish the shooter had had the decency to pop himself but then we wouldn't have the opportunity to find what led to such a barbaric act.

Representative Giffords shot in Arizona, gunman held - Yahoo! News (http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/us_usa_shooting_congresswoman - broken link)

Quote:
WASHINGTON (Reuters) – Representative Gabrielle Giffords of Arizona was shot in the head while holding a public event in Tucson, Fox News and National Public Radio reported on Saturday.

Fox said 11 other people were shot when an unidentified gunman ran up and began shooting indiscriminately as Giffords addressed supporters.
Shot in head - not looking good. Unconfirmed reports she has died.

Very saddening indeed!

This has to happen on my B-day too.

The news is also saying more deaths from this.

No one knows what the idiots motivation was, and assigning him one before he even opens his mouth is nearly as dumb.

RIP Gabby Giffords.
My condolences go out to her family. And to the families of others killed.
I hope that this does not mark the beginning of the wave of political violence in America that I and others here have predicted.

Article says gunman was wrestled to the ground..young man in his teens, early 20's.
That is all they've reported on the gunman.

What a shame, she had some good causes about her too.
Immigration Reform, Alternative Energy Sources and Higher Minimum wage to name a few.

They described the shooter as young man either late teens or early 20's.
So young..their life didn't even start yet they found it in themselves to take the lives of others.

I share your same fears majoun.
