Ha, ha, ha! In what way, floridabob? To me, "liberals" are in darkness. How can people in darkness be "enlightened".
You all embrace what has been shown by history to not work. You have reverted back to dark times in history, believing in a socialist system.
What could be more enlightening than these words: "We hold these truths to be self evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness —"
There is nothing higher than that. Why do you say you are "enlightened"?
Because you reject God? The Bible tells us that "light has come into the world. That light is Christ". Rejecting Christ is "enlightenment"?
Please explain why returning to darkness is "enlightenment".
Liberal means to me leftist. It also means hypocrit because I've heard the word tolarance used over and over by them and I've seen nothing but complete intolarance from them. I could list it all but why bother one of them will just post under me with just a smart*** one line response that means nothing.
What you deem liberal intolerance (by not tolerating it I might add) is simply a person's intolerance for stupidity and irrationality. Liberals don't like backward ideas, ideas that retain the prejudices of the past or continue situations that are less than ideal. Liberals are forward thinkers, people who are open to employing new ideas to solve old problems. Conservatives have only one answer for most everything and that one answer never takes into account the inevitability of change and growth.
In general, however, I still believe the left hates IDEAS while the right genuinely hates PEOPLE. That distinction has become more obvious to me over the course of time I've been posting on these forums.

And by all definition of a social liberal, Jesus was one.

What are you talking about? You're describing the average republican. Republicans want all the services government provides but without having to pay for them. Liberals want government services that effectively promote the general Welfare and are willing to pay for them.
I know it is nit-picking but I don't mind paying for these services when the proper agencies are delivering them. The federal government has 18 powers and that is all. All other powers should be left to the state, county and city governments.

Education and knowledge are hardly the exclusive domains of liberals regardless of their frequent attempts to claim a monopoly on education.
