Guess he figures defending our borders is no longer a high priority, we have enhanced pat downs from the TSA now.

The Obama Administration plans to withdraw National Guard troops from the Texas, New Mexico and California borders by the end February under a new Southwest security plan, even as turmoil in Mexican border cities grows, according to documents obtained by The Washington Examiner.

A letter sent to various members of the Texas Congressional delegation from Texas' Gov. Rick Perry's office says, "In February, 2011, the Texas, New Mexico, and California National Guard forces that were deployed to the border in September, 2010, under President's Obama's Southwest Border Augmentation Plan, will have 30 days to complete a total draw down of forces."

The roughly 550 troops will have the month of February to redeploy back to their units, Texas Congressman Ted Poe told The Examiner. Troops would not be pulled off the Arizona border under the plan, and about 100 of the troops would re-deploy there from other states, officials said.

Yeah, what does our immediate border matter when we have erm... interests or something in Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Israel, Mozambique, Antarctica and outer space? Yes, we can.

Well, to be fair, amateur hour has been in full swing since he sent the NG troops, because they were not actually guarding the border nor had anything to do with national security, they were just performing administrative functions and were only for show. All he is doing now is ending the charade of actually giving a crap about national border security.

No surprise here - we knew it was a sham from the beginning. He just needed to look like he was doing something, other than demonizing and suing Arizona for trying to protect their state from the hoard of illegals.

And that is why our country is going to hell in a handbasket. I sure hope our newly elected conservatives can get this taken care of ASAP (their to-do list gets longer by the day, and many of the items are top priority).

I think it's kinda funny and ironic that they won't take any troops out of AZ.

You folks need to know that the National Guard has zero law enforcement authority. No military branch does, unless martial law is implemented. Which means, Guardsmen can't detain anyone. Who knows why Barry sent them there in the first place, but maybe that has something to do with why he's pulling them out - without the ability to actually capture anyone, the Guard has their hands tied and they can't do jacks**t at the border which effectively renders them 99% useless. I gave them 1% because they could still be additional eyes and ears for Border Patrol - then again we don't need the Guard for that. Volunteers do that for free.

I would've sent some Coast Guardies there (crazy as it sounds, I know) because they're the only defense arm that has always had law enforcement capabilities.

stillkit: I did. Bush sucked at it. I was hoping Obama would be an improvement but so far he's proving to be quite the let-down.
