I think it needs to be cut to 2000 levels.

We have more Generals than in World War II, get rid of half and we would still have twice as many as we need.
Cut civilian contractors in half
Cut unneccssary weapons systems like those extra F-35 engines and the Osprey

People want a huge military budget, which includes helping out the poor in the middle of nowhere in central asia, but they want to cut domestic social programs. How does that make sense?

Yes, probably, but you might as well say "Rape will always be around, so it's naive to bother noticing it's a bad thing."

I agree with him 100%. Don't see it happening though.

Yes, now we just need to get rid of those two partisan pricks Bohner and McConnel.

I am for cutting the Military budget. As long as we also reduce their missions, and stop using them as an enforcement arm for the UN. Stop using them to guard S.Korea and Japan. Stop using them to police Europes back yard, stop using them to nation build in countries that no matter how much we try to help them still don't like us. Stop sending carrier battle groups to places like Haiti.
Yes we should and could cut their budget if we stop acting like the worlds police force.
In short use them for National defence of the United States of America. A good start would be our southern border.

No it's not. It's the idea that the US military budget shouldn't be twice as large as the rest of the world put together. It's the idea that we shouldn't be the world's police force. It's the idea that that if you're going to put starving children and little old ladies on the "entitlements" chopping block you need to put a few generals there too. It's the idea that we shouldn't use "freedom & democracy" as a pretext for slaughtering hundreds of thousands of innocents to further the interests of Exxon/Mobil, Halliburton, et al. It's the idea that the flag waving, gun totin' war mongers should pay for wars they instigate that are contributing to the bankruptcy of our nation. Hey Republican Samurai! You Want More Wars? Then Pay For Them! Time For a War Tax. by Eric Margolis
